    Hi all,

Thought id write a wee update on how Goldie dog is coming along. It will be 6 weeks on Sunday since i acquired her. As most of you know now she was a working dog, living all her life in a kennel outside with very little contact/training until she came to me.

I got in touch with my friend who owned and bred her yesterday just to check if he was alright with me having her spayed. I kind of thought it would be but since she was gifted to me i wanted to play safe. She is booked into the vets on Monday to have a check over and then ill book her in for the Op shortly after. So it turns out she is nearer 3 than 2. "3 i think" was the response i got when i asked about her age ::) So i have made her unoffical birthday 5th May..the day i got her ;D

She is now a social butterfly as far as meeting and greeting new people. She met my sister's family (3 children under 4yrs, one of which is scared of dogs) on Sunday and was impecibally behaved. She sat to be patted, didnt knock any of them over and my 2 yr old niece even said she was pretty..bless ;D She even had a little snooze on the rug while they teetered around her.

She has twice now stayed over at a friends house for the night while ive been working/night out and again only reports of good behaviour.

She is making efforts towards playing with other dogs...mainly the neighours dogs when they pass by so has hopefully realised shes allowed to play and isnt "on duty" anymore. She even spoke to the yard dog last week and she normally freezes and avoids him at all costs. I did tell him he would have to be patient with her so a blossoming romance may be on the cards :*

We are STILL 100% with toilet duties and she has clicked that late night outside=toilet...horaah!

Her basic commands are good a home so now starting to venture out to new places and aim for the same reponse...so far so good. I even bought a push bike so i could cycle with her in the mornings. I have the gadget for the bike to attach her to and she runs along side. She has even been out with me and my horse round the fields, walking to his heel  Good job he knows where he is placing his feet as she can get quite close at times. Planning on some family outings to the beach soon :p

She stays in the run all day while im at work and is much more settled. Eve runs in there in the morning as it usually means there is something tasty or interesting i've prepared so its a surprise each day as to what she will find whether its a filled Kong, treat ball or the tea towel with treats hidden inside.

Ill get some new pictures up soon :)

    That sounds wonderful.
    Well done Lisa
So 5th May is officially her "Gotcha" day. A good date - don't know why, just gives me that rounded, comfortable content feeling :)

Haha a Gotcha day...i love it.
Last night there was massive progress in te Goldie/Yard dog relationship. The usual - he stops and stalks, she freezes, he charges, she tells him off scenario had already happened and then all of a sudden they chased each other round for a huge 3 minues. She still had her hackles up but was very smiley ;D and loving it. Wasnt long until she didnt want to pay anymore and was by my side. Baby steps are sill good steps :*

Oh how lovely. Poor little Goldie, locked up like Rapunzel away from other dogs until freed by The Good Fairy (aka Lisa), who is now allowing her to become A Real Dog...

A doggy fairy tale. Well done you.
