I just wish someone could come up with teaching "dog" language! I know my pup is frustrated with me sometimes. Cooper is an almost 10 month yellow lab.....a real sweetheart.....but he will sit in front of me and stare at me and blink his eyes at me as I say "I dont understand what you want"!!! Do you want to go out? and he blinks, so I open the sliding door to the deck....but he doesnt go out. So then I ask "do you want to have a nap" and he will blink his eyes, but not move. I will NOT ask if he wants a treat because we all know the answer to that one!
Do you have the same problem I have? I am sure I drive poor Cooper crazy not understanding what he wants.
At night he, basically, puts himself to bed in his crate....the time depends on how tired he is....if he has gone to day care, or had training class, or just lazed around. But during the day, I have a hard time understanding what he needs at that moment. I know this will come with time, but I feel so bad for him.....he probably is thinking "why doesn't she understand me"!!
Thanks, Forum. You always come through for me.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.

He probably just wants attention. Well, a walk or food for preference, but attention will do.

Charlie does this all the time to my OH - and the reason is that he responds to it, sometimes with something amazing like a walk.

If I know Charlie has had a poo and pee recently, and it's not time for a walk or other activity, I ignore him. I don't want you to think I ignore my dog all day, but he doesn't get attention on demand, otherwise he'd ask for it constantly.

So if I open my laptop or my ipad, that's Charlie's cue to settle down until it's time to do something. The closing of the laptop lid is better than any attention getting cue I've ever trained - he's instantly up and 100% attention on me!
