Our puppy of 6 months has been shedding huge amounts of fur for over a week. Would this be the puppy to adult coat shed? If so, how long will it last? I'm hoovering up to 3 times a day!!
Re: How long does a big shed last? Can't help you I'm afraid ...we aren't a typical case,I've got a working line lab in a really hot climate ,our shedding is minimal because he never gets a truly thick lab coat :'( I'll be interested to read your replies x
Re: How long does a big shed last? Does the pup live out? Do you live in a country that is now in Spring or Autumn? Dogs tend to shed heavily at these times and some dogs shed more than others. I have 2 Labs, one barely sheds and one sheds so much that he is quite bare under his tum and inside his legs. I cannot really remember whether they shed heavily at 6 months. Is your pup scratching at all? It is probably quite normal, but if you are at all concerned, phone the vet for advice or even get back in touch with the breeder and ask them.
Re: How long does a big shed last? Thank you for your replies. We live in the Uk and he lives inside. I was expecting him to shed in spring and Autumn but don't know why it's happening now and had read about puppy to adult coat and hoping that it was that and not that this is my life from now on!
Re: How long does a big shed last? I don't think it will be that bad every day, it probably is a normal shed. At the moment, when I sweep the kitchen floor there are no dog hairs, so there is respite ;D I find a good comb every other day or so helps.
