Little worried about my pooch. He's had a few episodes of vomiting over the last couple of days. Twice in one night (three nights ago) and once this morning. I followed him out this morn to see what he brought up, was just bile. I had restricted food after the first night's episodes, but he seemed fine and gave him supper that night, and have continued to feed normally the last couple days. His poo seems normal-ish, lighter in colour and maybe a bit softer but otherwise okay. He seems his normal self otherwise. I suppose I worry about some kind of blockage, he's had some scavenging successes around the house over the last few days so not sure exactly what all he's eaten. :-\

Has he had any bones in the last few days? You said about lighter poo and Penny's is definitely lighter if she's had a bone. The roast knuckle ones goes straight through her too so wouldn't be surprised if this could cause vomiting also?

Perhaps there's just a bug going round at the moment? Though if it goes on more than a couple days I would probably be off to the vet just to make sure there's nothing ominous going on.

I think the fact he's had a few successful forays is weighing on your mind......those chocolate covered berries would have had some mileage in them for an upchuck I'd have thought and he could have got himself a few other prizes as well...... This is my line of thinking with no medical background whatsoever....if he's pooing all be it soft and he's only bringing up bile then things are passing through?
If he seems ok in himself and he's drinking I'd say he's just upset himself with a few stolen 'supplements' to his diet....but you know me Lisa...if in doubt call the vet ::)
Hope you get a settled night tonight, you've been back on puppy schedule the last week :-\ xxx

I doubt it's a blockage, a dog with a blockage is very ill, very quickly (according to my vet). Hope he picks up quickly, so worrying when they are ill.

Yes, on further thinking about it I doubt it's a blockage too, he wouldn't be able to poo, or at least it would be diarrhea, I would think. Probably just the scavenging that has sent him sideways a bit, which makes sense but it still would seem to me that he would be sick shortly after that, get rid of the junk in his tum, and then get better. Seems strange that he seems okay and then goes back to vomiting.

Anyhow nothing coming up today after this morning's episode, I'll try chicken and rice tonight and see how we do. If it continues I will take him to the vet, for sure.

    Poor you...its a worry isn't it?
When its clear cut vet visit stuff its sometimes easier.
Sounds a bit like Lilly's bug. Lasted 4-5 days then back to normal.
    Fingers crossed Lisa x

A blockage is horrendously painful and if he had one he wouldn't be able to settle and he would not want to eat due to the pain. So it doesn't sound like that. Plus, he's pooping. He may have something he shouldn't have sitting in his tum though...

If he vomits again I'd go to the vet. I never worry about one vomit, or a couple of vomits a few days apart, but consecutive vomits do get my attention. It doesn't sound too serious, but if you get sent away from the vet having been told not to worry then that's a win in my book.

I agree with Rachael. If Simba is just vomiting bile early morning it could be he's managed to eat something that's not digestible and its just traveling slowly through his digestive system. My two have done it. ::)

Scott ate a big flat squeaker out of a cuddly toy. He vomited bile on and off for two weeks until the squeaker appeared out of the other end whole !!! Trouble was at the time until the squeaker appeared I didn't know which dog it was. ???

Pooch had an uneventful day, it's bitterly cold here at the moment with a balmy "high" of -22C , so our walks have been rather brisk and shorter than usual. Haven't been able to work on our "tricks" either due to the tummy trouble, so Simba pretty much has been snoozing the day away. I gave him the chicken and rice special for supper which was eagerly received, we went for another short walk, and now, a couple hours later he is snoozing away on his bed. So, no more vomiting today....hopefully the night will go well.

Hi! My Canela was doing the same thing for weeks. I took her to the vet and they told me to put her on a bland diet of rice and chicken. Sooo I cooked every few days white rice and boiled chicken and added some carrots. Canela of course loved it. Slowly I am mixing her puppy food and she hasn't gotten sick in over four weeks! PS I also watch her eat as she eats too fast so I make sure she stops to drink water. Hope this helps.
