Morning everyone, yesterday David and I took Hattie & Charlie on a long walk with a newly discovered track in the woods, both dogs off lead when all of a sudden they both shot through to a field after a Pheasant, remarkably Charlie returned extremely quickly without a recall but there was no sign of Hattie. 20 minutes passed and she didn't respond to my whistle or voice so now I am worried sick as she is lost David took Charlie as someone had to pick the boys up from swimming so I continued onto a familiar part of the walk hoping she might just head back there, asked a horse rider along the way if they had seen her, "no" she hadn't, now I am walking round in tears calling her :'( :'( I walked up another track and there she was just sitting there, I called her and she bombed back jumped all over me tail wagging like crazy, I was covered in mud, didn't care as we were both just so happy to see each other It turned out she was one field away from where she had left me, maybe she had wondered around trying to find me so not sure how far she had gone and lost her bearings, poor girl this is just o unlike her When Hattie & Charlie are together they become quite naughty : xx
Re: Heart Stopping Walk One minute of a dog being lost is nerve wracking so I can guess how distraught you felt. Thank heaven all was well in the end.
Re: Heart Stopping Walk I feel your Pain Helen , Sam has done this a couple of times, always comes back but oh dear , even a few minutes seems like a lifetime . Bless Charlie
Re: Heart Stopping Walk Heart in my mouth reading this...know how you feel, and the relief when you find them! Glad Hattie is OK..and good boy Charlie!
Re: Heart Stopping Walk Glad it all turned out OK It really is a sinking stomach time when you cannot see your dog. I wonder if they are unhappy when they cannot see us.
Re: Heart Stopping Walk Certainly a bit of a shock when they don't come back Especially when they go after a bird that can run, they can easily get disorientated. The main thing is (and this is the difficult bit) do not move from the place they left you. They will find the way back to that spot.

So difficult to wait. Thanks everyone and for once Charlie was the good dog xx
