Two years today since we lost our lovely yellow Lab Tess , a beautiful girl who was the light of my life . She had always been a fit and active dog so that when she became ill , it was noted immediately but sadly too late . She would have adored Sam , wonderful chaos they would have created , bless you my lovely girl x

So sad :( They make our lives so much richer. But it's such a loss when they leave us - always too soon.

    Thinking of you.

Do you have a pic of your special girl?

A very pretty, smiley girl :) That is a beautiful photo. Was she a dog who liked to explore the path ahead, but waited for you to catch up?

Oh Kate... :'( She was lovely. What a super, happy photo!

I dreamt of my Billy last night - dreamt he climbed onto my bed and snuggled up with me! Honestly, I could feel him in my arms. I think I was visited by a ghost dog...

I know this sounds a little weird, but I often think of my ghost pack of dogs who accompany me and Poppy on walks - Leo, Billy and Bones...

    I don't think that's weird - it's comforting.

I often imagine that my Nicolae is out with me in the garden, lying in the sun. Sometimes we shake our heads together at the antics of his naughty yellow successor.

I dont think its weird either Karen . I used to take Tess and my little JR`s to the same woods I take Sam to . The reason I go to the more isolated areas of the wood is that I feel closer to my lost ones because thats where they all ran free and where their ashes were scattered .I always feel calm and peaceful and like to think that we are all together, in spirit anyway .
Yes , Tess, just like Sam , enjoys running a little ahead but will always wait for me round a corner, never ever far away :)

    Re: Remembering Tess today

Lost my old girl just over two years ago too. Here's a poem that helped at the time and is how I feel when I walk Tarkie and Lochan in some of Remy's old favourite places. It's by Ben Lampman, and is called The Best Place to Bury A Dog.

"There is one best place to bury a dog.
If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you when you call -
Come to you over the grim, dim frontier of death,
    And down the well-remembered path,
    And to your side again.

And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel,
They shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming,
    For he belongs there

People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall,
who hear no whimper, people who may never really have had a dog.
Smile at them, for you shall know something that is hidden from them and which is well worth the knowing

The one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of his master"

Well, that's where my old girl Remy is - in my heart - and comes with me too every day when I walk. Thinking of you and all our old friends too today.
