Once again the poor little honey has a very upset tummy, isn't really wanting to eat, and this time is wanting to sleep a lot. So as soon as the vet's surgery opens, I'm going to be giving them a call to see if we can find out what is wrong. He's had an upset tummy for a little, and we've tried a lot of things to settle it. He's not been being sick, and as much as I know puppies can just get unsettled tums, this just seems to be making him so unhappy that I want to see if I can try and find anything to help him out. :c

It really does feel like you're letting your baby down when they get sick. He's been in a really ratty mood most evenings this week as well, so I'm wondering if this is a part of that. Ho hum.. Here's to hoping he gets better soon.

I hope the vets manage to shed some light on why he is poorly. Fingers crossed it's just something he's eaten x
Harley was poorly like that for quite a while - worked out she is wheat intollerant - change of food to grain free and all sorted :)

Aw, hope he feels better soon. If at all possible, take a poo sample (his not yours ;) ) with you so they can look at it.

If it's affecting his demeanour, it's important to have him checked out.

Poor little man. Despite the very best of care, these things do happen. I hope he is 100% soon.

We are back from the vets with Alfie. He had a little bit of tummy sensitivity and had a little grimp when it was pressed. They think he has a touch of colitis, poor little man, and has been given some anti-biotics to take for five days, along with three-five days of the royal canin sensitivity control food, which he is already very excited about, of course. He has just curled up in his bed right by my feet for a sleep, as the vets disturbed his mid-morning nap.

He had no temperature, not a sign of dehydration, luckily, and nice pink gums. So hopefully in a week all should be well.

That has put some worried puppy mama fears to rest as well.

Also been given some advocate flea and lung worm treatment. So many things on the go for him now.

Poor boy, hopefully his new food will cheer him up and make his feel much better!

So many of them struggle with their tummies when they're young. We definitely had a stage when it felt like it was just one thing after another.

Unless the vet said otherwise, I would wait with the flea and lung worm treatment until his tummy is better.

My Bella had too, but chicken and rice sorted her out!

Re: Alfie unwell : Off to the vets.

Karen: The vet told us to do it without delay, there have been a couple of cases of lung worm around this area, and she wanted to make sure nothing else could go wrong, and seemed unconcerned about mixing the two meds. We were a little concerned at the time, but decided that her advice was best to follow at the end of the day, but yes, it was a little strange.

Oh dear though! Two lovely Bella's with sensitive tummies as well! I hope they are all well in the end. I'm glad chicken and rice was a good help! It seems to be doing Alfie some good already. c: Here's to hoping he continues to improve!

In that case follow your vet's advice Lora. I only mention it because sometimes the treatments can cause an upset tummy for a day, so don't be surprised if you get runny poos again for a while.

    Hi Lora,
I hope you see an improvement in Alfie's tummy health....we had a bumpy time getting Dexter right when he was 5 months ,he was very upset for a few months ,after he was successfully treated for Giardia we changed his food to Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal and he improved greatly....he's 2 and half now and a couple of months ago I changed him over to RC Hypoallergenic ( seperate issue with ears ) and his poos have improved even more,im really happy on it now and whilst I don't think that food allergies were causing the ear issue ,the food change over has worked well for his tum so I'm sticking with it x
