So Bella's not really a big chewer but my oh my she loves a good carpet corner ..... She's scratched / pulled up a few, despite me covering each corner with something heavy (Ish) she's also started on other parts of the carpet, scratch, scratch, scratch mouth full of carpet ;D....l I'm also using the leave it cue - sometimes she responds, other times not , until I physically get up and walk over to her doing it, then she's off!! Anyone else have this issue? I'm in rented accommodation and will be paying for a new carpet when I leave , defo no carpets downstairs in my new house :-[

Oh, that's a bit of a bummer.... I wonder if it's just for the fun of 'digging' or because it smells interesting in the corners (not casting any nasturtiums on your cleaning standards!!!! ). I think your strategy of blocking off the corners is likely to be the most successful way to go....

Yer I'm not sure, I spoke to a guy in the pub the other week and he said his lab does it too and is after the underlay?! ... She does try and pull it up and run with it but I stop her first  she does dig outside in the soil sometimes too hmmmmmm. I've already got a sandwich bag full of carpet she's scratched up to do a patch up job when I leave :-[

Rolo does this too. Especially at my loose lino (when we moved in brand new lono had been put down with glue, we replaced straight away but it couldn't be stuck down) he digs and digs gets the corner up then rips! He does it on the carpet too, sniffs and blows and then starts digging! It's a good job he's gorgeous!

Gabby has done this as well in my living room. Guess I will be getting new carpet once she is grown!

Get new furniture and skirting boards when the dog grows up? Nah...it'll be soon time for the next puppy anyway.

I've gone from "rugs on the mantle, log basket on the TV" interior design to shabby chic...a tad shabby, but I'm a trend setter....roll with it, I say...

Well I've done some furniture re arranging tonight in order to cover the scratch patches ... But she's found a new piece to scratch instead :-\. Laminate flooring and tiles in my new house - no way is she getting away with wrecking our brand new house ;D

Carpets are easier to eat when you start at the corners. Very hard to start in the middle.

My dogs don't eat or dig at the carpet.

They don't need to - we've got carpet moths - they have eaten away patches of 2 very expensive wool carpets and have now started on the landing.

So it's wooden floors all through for us this spring.

She just keep finds areas to scratch up.... I covered one bit with a blanket and she did the sane scratching action... Interesting also annoying :(
