I'm wondering if anyone can help me when it comes to car crates!

We have a Citroen Xsara Picasso and we're trying to find a crate that will fit in our car, with the sloping back window!

We've looked at the Ellie-bo car crates but we don't think a 30" crate will be big enough for an adult labrador? I just wondered what crates people use, and if by chance anyone has the same car as us and which crate they have?

I joined this forum many months ago and I introduced myself in the introductions part of the forum a little while ago, but just in case some people haven't seen, we hope to get a puppy in June/July... and recently we contacted the breeder and are working out the details!! - Very excited!! ;D

    Thanks!

I have used these for years. He will make a cage to fit your car and make the best use of the space.

A crate wasn't going to happen in my mini so I use a harness and she loves it, when she was very small she was next to me on the passenger seat, now she's 5 months she's on the back seat ;D

It depends what you are after...I have a crash tested car crate and love it. I love that my dog is safe and secure, it's great as a "home" for him when I'm training, the ventilation is great. I can lock it and leave the boot open. I wouldn't be without it. It does take up the whole boot (although of course you can put stuff in it when the dog isn't there) but for holidays, we just bought a roof box.

This was his home for a week clicker camp in August (ice packs fitted on the fans and kept him lovely and cool:(

Safe dog do a version that fits around sloping back windows. The even do one specifically for the Citroen Xsara Picasso - you could get a double medium, plenty big enough for a Lab.

Thank you very much for many different options!!

We absolutely would love the crash tested car crate, it looks and sounds brilliant, but we just can't afford that much money right now! :(

We will keep on looking!! :)

It's true they are not cheap - although there is a second hand page on the safedog site, which is worth keeping an eye on. I nearly got one at a great discount, but it got snapped up unfortunately.

We've got a Renault Megane Estate and ordered the security guard specific for the car and installed it when moving Juno out of the crate which fitted in the rear. I looked at the crash tested cages for the car but we decided we couldn't afford one... Juno now lays on a nice comfy Elle-Bo cushion in the back of the car and sits and waits when we open the boot etc to have her lead attached.
