Re: Dummy??? HeHe - I remember asking that. ;D ;D ;D My dog, however, was born addicted to them. Which is a bit of a mystery. The most common dummy is a tube of canvas stuffed with sand or sawdust - in various weights. They are used to mimic a pheasant for training. Although, they come in all materials, weights, and sizes. From light plastic to covered in rabbit skin, feathers etc. http://www.sportingsaint.co.uk/category/1
Re: Dummy??? Dummies are quite essential for gundog training and I use them pretty much every day. But here is my tip for anyone just getting into gundog training with their puppy or young dog, use something other than a dummy to get a nice retrieve and delivery going. There are bound to be mistakes happening along the way but at least the mistakes won't be made with an important part of my training kit. I use stuffed toys, paint rollers and tennis balls to start with. ;D
