http://www.flickr.com/photos/97066992@N03/ Had the time to be sorting through my photos and inspired by all the lovely young puppy photos that have been shown recently I posted some of Dexter( the little we had of him before he arrived)from when he lived in the snow! There's also one of him on the rug in our house the day he arrived with his little red puppy collar on and then one of him asleep on my leg, later that same day....we were in love with him the second we saw him! Going to get really adventurous next and see if I can get his arrival video up for you to see,I nearly cry everytime I watch it thinking about how young he was and the journey he made that day......and Then I think about that horrible vet the other week who said he was under confident.....my bum!there wasn't a feather out of him that day x
Re: Dexter Pre Dubai! Hmmmm think the videos are on the same link as the photos....couldn't do youtube Hope you can see him, apologies for my pigeon English in the background......I distinctly hear violins though when I say his name and his little tail starts thumping on the bottom of the box ;D...and it hasn't stopped, thank goodness since then! X
Re: Dexter Pre Dubai! I saw both videos Dashedly near made me cry too!!! What wonderful videos to have. And what a brave, clever lad to make it all that way and still be keeping it all together at the end. I can imagine your anticipation, nerves and excitement. Thanks so much for posting these videos, they are absolutely delightful and quite moving!
Re: Dexter Pre Dubai! The videos made quite a pull on the old heart there. He's a lovely brave little dog and very lucky to have found you.
Re: Dexter Pre Dubai! Lovely photos and videos, Angela. Watching Dexter in his travel crate reminded me of my days as cabin crew. We often had dogs and other animals travelling in the hold and the loaders would come and ask us for water to fill the drinkers in the animals' crates. We would always give them bottles of Highland Spring mineral water, nothing but the best for the precious cargo. ;D And I remember one incident when we diverted on our flight from the States back to the UK because a warning light had alerted the captain to some pressurisation problem in the hold which contained a dog. He was so concerned about the dog's welfare that we diverted to Bermuda to sort out the problem. The dog was absolutely fine and was 'upgraded' to First class and we were back on our way home! ;D
Re: Dexter Pre Dubai! Thankyou,Thankyou as always for indulging me....he's a plucky little fella. He flew through the night and I didn't sleep a wink ,from others that had done this before,we expected his process through customs to be 2 hours....but it wasn't,it was 3!We had also been told that at the last stage of documentation we would be able to see him if not touch him....but we couldn't ,so we were jumping from foot to foot by the time those warehouse doors opened!every airport official ( and there were many...) sniggered and said,oh don't worry, you will hear him, barking, whining and yelping before you see him.....I felt sick, and then he appeared....a bit bewildered but curious and interested and CALM and we fell in love instantly! Within an hour,he was home, had a wee(.in the right place....)eaten(top priority)had a bath( he was a bit stinky from the box) and investigated his new home....he was a star. Heidrun I was cabin crew too!!!I've donned hi vis and jumped onto the catering trucks to get down to the ramp to give dogs water several times in my flying career.17 years ago Dubai wasn't as efficient an airport as it used to be and I used to worry about those little pooches especially in the hot months.what a lovely,Captain you had the day of your diversion, someone with Top priorities.if we'd continued to video on the drive home the day Dex arrived you would hear me promising him that he is NEVER going in that box again and that if he ever has to go on plane again we will be there with him.....Hubst did a sharp intake of breath at that comment........think he was thinking about the cost of flying us and a dog home first class....... Thought on this weeks lottery numbers anyone? x
