Pongo's latest FAVOURITE toy is Stamford. Stamford is a furry squeaky bear from Pets At Home. He is blue and white and named by my Chelsea-fan OH. Pongo will spend hours with Stamford, chewing him, running round the house with him, squeaking him, losing him and finding him.

Stamford also stinks. He smells like Pongo's breath when Pongo's breath is at its stinky smelliest. I've tried rinsing him but it doesn't make a lots of difference without soap, and somehow I don't think Pongo would appreciate Stamford tasting of Imperial Leather.

Does anyone else have a stinky-furry-toy problem and have you found an answer?

    Definitely.
Best on a day you can hang them out to air, but successfully tumble dried even squeakies and come out perfect. Still squeaky. ::)

Yes definitley the washing mashing, I put Penny's on a 60degree was with biological washing powder. Then I just dry them on the radiator.

I bought Tatze an identical teddy so that I could wash hers. She totally ignore the usurper!

Thank you! But don't your dogs object to the taste of soap?

The soap is all rinsed out by the washing machine, I don't think they taste of soap...

I think you are all rotten.

They work to build up this awesome flavour and texture (pile bonded into spikes by slobber and dirt) and you go and ruin it.

Obi's toys get a regular rendezvous with the front loader. He sticks a Lambie in our faces in the morning and it's imperative that they don't get too far into the realm of stinkiness. He is perfectly happy with his washed Lambies.

When Lambie gets a run through the washing machine, it sends Poppy into a frenzy of excitement. Either she thinks she's got a new Lambie - or the clean smell is really interesting! Anyway, whatever the reason, it brings on a lot of rushing around the house, shaking and flinging around of said Lambie, followed by an intensive grooming session :D

I feel the same when I hang Mira's rabbit by the ears - seems so wrong, but it is the most practical way :-[
