Bella had a very strange behavior day yesterday.... So apparently, about an hour after a potty break....Steve the UPS delivery man came by and greeted her as usual, petting her through the crate....they are friends. : And hubby says that then she just flopped over on her side and peed! Not a dribble, not an excited piddle....but a geyser style fountain...in her crate, on the wall, over her bed.... Hubby was completely befuddled...she had been out for a pee less than an hour earlier, and gave no indication that she was in need of another break....and the whole flop down on her side and geyser out urine..... When I came and picked her up that evening and took her out for her potty walk before I took her home....it was raining lightly, so we headed out at a brisk walk....and as we came around a corner a group of 3 was getting out of their car, and I immediately shortened the lead and tried ot get her to sit...holding her harness and holding her down as best I could...but they were very forward and very friendly...and came right up to her and petted and doted on her.. : as she is bouncing on both hind legs, totally excited and goofy...apparently she piddled again. (as reported by the young man who was greeting her) I just chalked it up to really needing to go...not knowing she had the geyser event earlier in the day....We quickly excused ourselves and headed for her favorite potty patch and promptly she did her business. she is not usually an excitement piddler... so I really thought she was probably just bursting at the seams. She is usually at about 4 hours post potty break with dad when I show up. And the piece de resistance of the evening....After she has been in and out multiple times at home, we are about finished with dinner on the couch, and I hear the cat scratching around in the litter box in the corner. No big deal, happens every day multiple times, and Bella usually stays out of the box...despite the treasures she has found in there in the past :-X Bella is playing with us, bringing us toys to throw, and just being her regular goofy self during this time...and we indulge by squeak and throw.... and as the cat is finishing her business, Bella goes over to that corner, turns and squats very slightly, and proceeds to fountain out her bladder onto the floor. I give a very clear "What the H#@$, Bella?????" and she stops, and I put her outside immediately...without any punishment - just astonishment..... I clean up the mess, and hubby and I randomly discuss....he tells me of the geyser event... I recollect the piddle report from the young man on the street....and we both comment that this little "event" we just had in the living room was not a squat down to the floor, urgent oops, pee....this was a higher elevation squat (poo position rather than pee position)....so was she marking?!?!?!? I don't know what to think really....other than it was just a weird random day for her...all behaviors totally out of character for her. And in neither the geyser event, or the living room event was she in a position where her bladder would have been normally full - she had emptied within the hour....and there was ALOT of volume in both events - atypical for her. And it seemed very behavior specific, and not really an "OMG I can't hold it any longer, and I'm so embarrassed, but I gotta GO" kind of thing. thoughts????
Re: Bella, Bella, Bella - um....what the heck?!?!?! Could she have a water infection maybe? Although that would be lots and lots of teeny widdles as opposed to fountains.
Re: Bella, Bella, Bella - um....what the heck?!?!?! Hope Bella is her normal self today and not gushing all over the place. If it continues I would suggest a trip to the vet for a quick check in case she has an infection. Not something I've experienced with Juno so a bit stumped on possible causes.

Well, Bella has a history of struvite crystals, and so we pay close attention to her urinating habits as a general rule, and try to keep her super hydrated. I had thought about a possible infection too...but I'm incline to think it's a behavioral rather than a physical issue...but we'll see... She is due for a UA to check for struvites too...had been thinking about taking her this evening actually...we'll see...

I never realised girls marked so much until I met some intact girls at gundog training. As they were approaching and leaving their season they started marking quite a lot! So I would definitely think this could be associated with hormone changes.
Re: Bella, Bella, Bella - um....what the heck?!?!?! Perfect pee is good Hope the excitement peeing is a passing phase (excuse pun!) Mira marks quite a lot but only started after she was spayed. To start with I wondered if it was a UTI. We've never had bitches that did this before.

I'll probably not ever figure out what her issue was the other day....she hasn't acted like she's marked anything in the past....and I'm not sure she was marking the other day....just being a dork I think. : Possibly testing limits/boundaries....but who knows... (not me obviously! ;D ;D ;D ) I'm just so delighted that the struvite issue has resolved....truly!!!!

This morning Maisie took it into her head to start pulling on the towel around her water bowl (to soak up her spillage I just keep a towel there). The water bowl moved, of course. She looks at it, fascinated. Then tugs the towel again. Yes, Maisie, if you keep pulling, it keeps moving! HOw exciting! Then she gave up and left it all unravelled.
