Steffie, my dad's dog went to her last trip to the vet today.
She was a staffie crossed with a German shepherd, produced from an over the fence encounter between two neighbours dogs and my dad took on one of the puppies. She was called Steffie because she was not quit a Staffie.

She was a very gently dog and once did her best to deter intruders who bashed the back door down off its hingers and attacked my mum while my dad was away. Without her there things could have been a lot worse.

She licked all my little nieces and nephews faces until they giggled.

As my dad said, 15 years and 3 months is not a bad innings.

She sounds like an utter sweetheart and it was a good innings indeed not that that ever makes the loss easier.

Warm wishes to your family at a sad time. She sounds like a wonderful dog. A long life, and much loved by the sounds of it, which doesn't make it easier to say goodbye. :'(
