I was wondering what everyone feeds their dog in a day....in total?

Today...both had their breakfast after a 30 min walk..this consisted of MillesWolfheart kibble (countryside mix) 110g for Benson and 90g for Casper, different amounts as per feeding guidelines.(320g -350g guide for Benson) MW grade their feed recommendation based on hours of exercise, some of their formulations are designed for agility, endurance etc. They both had slightly less as they were going to Yoof club training so anticipated that they would have a huge fistful of treats each. Today training treats were chunks of cooked chicken, liver treats, very thinly sliced cocktail sausage, and tiny cubes of cheese.

    So...

Breakfast - 110g Benson, 90g Casper of kibble

Both had 2 eggs each mid-morning, by accident, Benson raided the egg bucket again...

X1 medium tripe stick each mid morning.

Fist sized handful of treats at lunchtime training (Yoof Club..)

half a dozen small liver treats with agility homework (early afternoon)

Few treats each with walk in the paddocks late afternoon

Evening kibble -..130g for Benson and 100g for Casper (sightly more than the morning)

3 whitefish biscuits (Milles Wolfheart) early evening and bedtime allowance

This does vary day to day, sometimes they have a raw meal, sometimes more/less kibble depending on their activity levels. I was wondering how this compares with other peoples feeding regimes? Activity levels are usually around 2.5 hours on average per day.

    Lordy! Lucky dogs!

No training today, so no training treats....

Charlie got: 50g kibble for breakfast, 50g in kongs at lunch, 50g for supper - 150g of kibble (feeding guideline is 300g). He also got about 30g in seabiscuits on walks. He probably got a bit of cheese on toast from OH when I wasn't looking. And he'll get half a salmon strip when he goes to bed.

On a training day, he'll get no lunch, but I'll make up my treat bag with chicken, sardines, prawns, chicken frankfurter, sea wraps, salmon strips and so on....

Sorry, added - on a day with no training, he'll do an hour on lead and about 30 to 40 minutes off lead. Training is on top of that, most days, another hour and is the most intense exercise he does. So about 2hrs 40 or so...more if we go to class.

    My two had:
A handful each of Hills Science Plan kibble - I don't weigh it, but know how much the right amount feels like! Shadow has a little more than Willow. A couple of days a week, they have a raw egg with this, but not yesterday. I add a good glug of warm water to it because it slows them down and they seem to really enjoy the gravy. It also makes me feel better that they're filling their bellies up, even if it is just with water, when I have to reduce the amount due to training treats!

Training treats: kibble, breadsticks, home-dehydrated liver, cheese (a mixture of Cheddar, Manchego and Parmesan rind), sliced frankfurter, leftover steak, mooshed up sardines and tuna in a pouch. That sounds like loads, but most of it is just a mixture in a little pot. Kibble and breadsticks are the "Level 1" treats, the sardine and tuna paste is "Level 3" and everything else is "Level 2".

Lunch: A frozen leg of rabbit.

Dinner: Another small handful of kibble.

No kongs or chews yesterday; they usually get a kong when I go out to the gym or have to leave them for any other reason, but not yesterday. Sorry, pups :)

On a normal day Holly gets two lots of 80g skinners junior with a load of water (not soaked kibble, more like gravy and a slow down aid) plus a handful of kibble around lunchtime to keep her occupied while the 2 legged ones eat - as she comes to work with me, this keeps everyone else's lunch safe. For walk/run time she gets a few treats for training too. At some point she'll get a kong either filled with good stuff like apples or banana or a wee dod of peanut butter.

However, Holly has been on her holidays at my dad's for the last few days so goodness knows what treats she's had! Fortunately there is another young lab there so they keep each other busy/occupied/in mischief!

Juno is currently changing over from Royal Canin Junior Large Dog - Neutered to Hills Prescription Diet J/D (Reduced Calorie) so:

    Breakfast = 135g Royal Canin + 35g Hills J/D (followed by her anti-inflammatory)

    Late morning 5 minute walk

Lunch = Jumbone (for dogs upto 25g) this was followed by a quarter of my apple!

    Late afternoon 4 minute walk

Dinner = the same as breakfast

    After dinner 5 minute walk

The allowance of kibble saved from daily portion used in interactive toys to amuse her after her walk instead of our usual games of hide and seek, tug etc.

Bedtime 2.5 Gravy bones as we go to bed after the cats have had their bedtime treats.

Normally instead of the kibble allowance she would have treats while training in the garden or on walks and sometimes I use treats in the toys in the evening instead of kibble

Just wondered if you'd checked the calorie content in Jumbones, Rosemary? If you have Juno on a reduced calories kibble, that is...a regular jumbone contains 590 calories - just a little more than 2 mars bars for humans...

Have to admit I hadn't checked the calories of either the jumbone or the kibble, I've aways just reduced he kibble intake to allow for treats etc. and it seems to have worked as the vet is perfectly happy with her weight. It's very rare that she has a jumbone, just been feeling sorry for her and how boring life is at the moment. Feel particularly sorry for her as we make the move over to Hills J/D as she gets less kibble than with Royal Canin so she's eating her meal and then looking as if to say "Where's the rest?" I will be happier this time next when the changeover is complete and I can manage her food and treats better, but will be even better in a few weeks when we can start extending the walks gradually

We like the Millies Wolfheart range of fish skin chews, they are quite substantial, low in fat (2.5%)

Benson and Casper love these we have the medium size as they are quite large...it takes Casper ages to get through one of these...Benson plays with his for ages before settling down to a good chew.. :)

Thanks for that Kate, I was just investigating and the chews are currently out of stock, but they want to charge me £7 for delivery here in France which is half the price of a pack of chews so think I'll have to pass on that at the moment.
