I have a working strain Lab and all her training has been helped along with treats. When she's working for real and picking up real birds, finding lost birds, or hunting down runners the very last thing on her mind is treats. The real thing has no substitute in my dog's mind, whereas dummies benefit from a bit of incentive. ;D

One of mine is the greediest dog in England and would swim through a river of fire for 1 small piece of kibble. All her training has involved food rewards, but when she is working she is totally focused on the job in hand and is our "go-to" dog for hunting down runners. She never, ever looks for food rewards when working. Like David and Lady, a totally different situation with dummies though when food rewards are important.
