how can that not be painful? :-\

I know! I trapped my little finger in the door a couple of nights ago, right through the nail. I swore (a lot), ran to the tap for cold water, then suddenly felt nauseous, hot sweats and had to sit on the floor before I fainted. Ridiculous, really - I didn't react like that when I broke my sternum, for heaven's sake! - but just goes to show how painful nail injuries can be.

I put a sock on her foot this morning. She's not impressed.

    Not her colour?

    ;D ;D ;D I used a black one!!

Actually, this sock had been on a shelf for ages, missing its counterpart. Only last week did its partner turn up in the wash, so it had only just gone back in the drawer. And now, it's separated again. This pair of socks obviously have different destinies. :)

She didn't get on well at all with the sock. She kept standing on it accidentally and pulling it so it stretched and made it more liable to being stood on. So that didn't last long at all. After that, we used a gauze pad strapped to it to keep it clean, and still allow it to breathe, and stopped taking her on walks because she started limping quite badly. She had her miserable face on and wouldn't jump off the sofa when John came home (although he did get tail wags). I had her on painkillers for a couple of days because she was crying when she was licking it, poor mite.

Yesterday, we took the gauze off and she's now walking normally. It's not bleeding all the time now and seems to be shrinking a little; it's certainly drying out. We even took her for a short walk yesterday evening, which she really enjoyed. She didn't even flinch away from having her harness put on! So it seems we're on the road to recovery. I'll be happy to see the new nail growing back, though.

We'd been toying with the idea of putting their crate away since they never use it anymore, but since hurting her nail, Willow has been going in there on occasion. It's nice she still feels it's a safe place, so we'll definitely be keeping it for a good while longer. She's in there now, having a snooze :)

I'm the same,2.5 years and ours is still up,rarely used but there's still that occasion when he will take his kong in there......I've said this before ,taking it down would involve a massive sort out as all the dog paraphernalia and walking equip is stashed on the top ;D

Glad Willow seems on the mend and enjoyed her walk,Do new claws come through quickly...it will be interesting to see x
