Okay, not completely, but....my hubs has been away for two days now...and things are going pretty good! :D (We'll ignore the hour I spent yesterday AM doggie proofing my computer room due to someone's prowl, and the bad jump and nipping last night, including jumping on the couch)....but....

...Today I left and came home twice, and he didn't jump on me either time. Sarah came home...no jumping. My middle son came home...no jumping. Eldest son arrived...well, a little slip up, but he did sit when asked.

We've been working on the "no jump and nip" in the yard the last couple days....going well. I click and treat when he runs up to me without the jump and nip, or when he's calmly walking beside me with out the jumping and nipping. Doing well! I'm going to get this pretty solid and then amp up the excitement some....maybe jog, or act more excited. See what happens. But...progress! ;D

Crate training is a bit of fits and starts....but I think perhaps that is my fault. I went too fast, I think. Backed up a bit - he's showing more enthusiasm now although still I wonder how we're going to manage 20-30 repetitions - it seems to take forever to get to even 5!! ::) Oh well....

Sarah did some clicker training with him today on the "no bite at the reaching hand coming towards your face" and he did really well. I've been doing this with him and he's responding well to me, but I wanted to have someone else do it. It took about 5-6 reaches in, with him trying to grab her hand every time, then...he didn't, and she C & T. Then the hand-grabbing pretty much stopped! I'm going to get her to work with him tomorrow too, and get my sons to do it as well. Progress!

We had a shorter walk midday today, and a long ramble through the woods tonight, to celebrate our progress.

So....no wine needed so far this week. ;D But he's stirring now after a snooze so we still have the nightly prowl to endure before he goes to sleep for good......

It gladdened my hear to wake up this morning and see the title of your post......lots of great progress being made, well done to you all.

I'm so envious of all the lovely green walks you can do...we just got in from the park....you can slice the air with a knife already out there.we met a choc lab and springer and had a good romp...all got v hot!dex's human the only one to bring water.....but we all shared nicely!recall non existent during the romp.so we went over to the next park on our own...recall as good as ever so I'm pleased with that .....and I was expecting backwards after our break from each other .....so I think these great foundations you are laying will stand you in good stead for after your trip.

Hope today continues in the same vein,he's a lovely looking dog Lisa x

That is wonderful news, Lisa. It sounds like you are making great progress and are going about it in exactly the right way.

Simba might seem like a naughty dog at times, but, really, he is mostly just an uneducated dog. No-one has taken the time before to show him how to be a good member of a family. But you are changing that :)

So nice to hear your success story Lisa! You keep up the good work. He is obviously a clever boy (as well as very handsome), so if you keep at it, you are bound to win in the end. :D
