My puppy is now 8 months old, when he's playing or in a really hyper mood with lots of running and play growling he starts to play bite my hand or for arm or nibble my sleeve, all his bites are very gentle as I did do some bite inhibition training when he was younger
But now when he bites and I respond with "ouch" or tell him no and ignore him he kind of gets rilied up more and starts barking

Also I'm training him to 'leave it' which is to drop what ever he has in his mouth sometime he drops it other times he turns it into a game and runs, my friends dads dog has been trained so when they give the command he drops and thing in his mouth instantly no matter how far away the dog is from the owner... Its really impressive and I have no idea how to get my 'leave it' command to that level

Hi there ,Same with your leave/drop....you've got a great start on your drop you just need to practice it in different places with different items and then your cue will be proofed which is what your are seeing in the other dog

Our boy is 2.5 now ,when he brings a toy to us to play and we are doing a play wrestle with him he can be really energetic and grab for the toy,his teeth will make contact with us but so gently....and I mean he can be really rolling around in a frenzy ,particularly with my Husband ::) but as soon as his teeth make contact he stops..... He used to leave bruises doing exactly the same scenario when he was younger ....but he's learned control over time and your boy will too.Dexter came to us at 5 months and we treated any play misdemeanors in the same way we would have done with a puppy .Whenever he hurt,or was too strong,we just yelped Ouch, stopped play and ignored him,if he didn't get it,he got a timeout behind a child gate ....consistency and you being calm will really help x

You also have an adolescent dog and they seem to "forget" everything you have ever taught them (just like human teenagers).

I remember it well, and with absolutely no affection

Rue does the barking thing, too when we tell her 'no bite'! It has been really bad the past month or two.
