Hi all, Am currently in the process of changing my 18 month old labs food over on advice from vet. Anyways the Royal Canin food required you to add water...if I've read the instructions correctly it says almost 480ml per serving! It seems too much! The instructions aren't clear as to whether you need to soak it or not? Does anyone else feed on this and if so can you provide some guidance? Thank you

Hello there , My dog is 2.5 years old he came to me at 5 month on Eukanuba and since then has progressed through different Royal Canin diets to get his tummy right...he is on a medical diet so I have to order the food through the vet and I've NEVER been told about adding water,I'm sure they would have told me if it was necessary . I'm sitting in bed writing this So I can't check but I don't remember reading anything on the bag....i do know for sure you need to make sure your dog drinks plenty of water with a dried food though...could it be a recommended daily intake amount you are thinking of? I do add a bit of water to the amount I use for training treats ,just to make them soft ,so they are easier and quicker to chomp down Best wishes Angela x
Re: Royal Canin Labrador Dry Food - Help! Juno was on Royal Canin Junior Large Dog Neutered but I didn't have to add water to the kibble. I've always fed dry kibble with water always available.

The diagram indicating water on the Royal Canin feeding instructions means "water should always be available" not add it to the kibble. I also wonder if you are confused by the feeding amounts. Even if your Labrador weighed 40kg, wasn't fat and had a slim ideal body condition, you would still only feed 418g of Royal Canin adult Labrador. Can you post a picture of the feeding guidelines on the packet?
Re: Royal Canin Labrador Dry Food - Help! Hi all, Thank you! My lab weighs 26kg so according to chart his with his activity level he needs 303g a day but in the next column of the chart it says 4 cups of water for 303g and each cup is 240ml Not sure how to post a pic! Sorry x

Re: Royal Canin Labrador Dry Food - Help! There are two columns on the feeding guidelines for royal canin, one in grams, and one in cups. The column for cups is just the US system of measuring dry food. It's just an alternative way of displaying the volume to feed, it's nothing to do with water. Eg: Activity Low Moderate High dog weight (g) 25 kg 294 g 4 cup 340 g 4 5/8 cup 387 g 5 2/8 cup 26 kg 303 g 4 1/8 cup 350 g 4 6/8 cup 398 g 5 3/8 cup

Weigh the cat's food out at the same time.
