    WARNING

A lovely Red Fox Labrador called Woody in our village had surgery due to his love of retrieving sticks. He went to grab a stick but it was stuck in the ground so it cut the inside of his throat, of course it could have been a lot worse, poor boy was in a sorry state :'(

Please use an alternative like Safe Stix it's not worth the risk :( xx

Oh poor boy I hope he recovers quickly :(

We don't play with sticks since April last year when Barney had cut his tongue open - lots of blood & a lot of pain but still we were very lucky that it didn't end much worse. Since then sticks are a big "NO" for my dogs.

Poor Woody that's awful Helen. How is he doing ?

A lady I know had a mastiff who liked to run carrying a stick. I'm not sure how it happened he must have caught it on something but the stick ended up going through his throat and coming out of his neck. I've never let my dogs play with sticks after being told that.

Poor love , I do hope he will be alright, how sad for him . Sam likes to carry one. never thrown though . I discovered Safestix ages ago , Pippa mentioned Sam and his safestix in an article about the dangers of sticks some time ago, but a timely reminder is always very worth while Helen, poor lad x

As you might know, I am always on about sticks on the forum and feel like a Job's Comforter, but I have seen too many injuries and my friend lost her 9 month old Spinone puppy due to that.

This throws a wrench into Maisies stick loving life. Maybe we will order a safe stix to take to the beach, she loves to run with sticks.

Charlie loves sticks, and is forever picking them up and running round with them - and I'm forever stopping him. ::) Oddly, for a dog that will fetch just about anything, he has never been hugely keen on his safe stix (he thinks it's ok, he'll fetch it fine, but isn't very excited about it).
