Had to make an appointment for Dyson with the ortho vet, his lameness is
worse than ever. Looking like a CT scan might be necessary. Not sure whether
to cry or scream. Feel so sorry for him especially when he gives you the 'lab look'...

So sorry to hear that Dyson's really limping at the moment and feel free to shout and scream - I know exactly how you feel :'( :'( Juno started limping again last week following her surgery after I had increased her exercise so we've had to revert back to the original post op exercise scheme :(. Don't despair if you need a CT scan as at least it will help to identify the problem so that you can plan his recovery with the ortho vet. Hugs to you and licks from Juno to Dyson

Really sorry to read this. Sending much virtual support. Agree that the CT scan may be a good idea, as you will at least know what the problem is, and what treatment is appropriate.

Thanks for all the kind words... :)
At work this morning my mind was working overtime and I ended up
in the toilet crying like a 2 year old :'(.
    Felt like such a fool.
I know the scan should help clarify things I'm just feeling a bit...useless.

I know that feeling - useless because you can't make it better for your pup and that you've failed him because you can't take the limp/pain away, but know that you are not alone I've shed more than a few tears in the last fw months. Always remember you can always count on support and advice here on the forum, I don't think I could have coped without it. When is your appointment with the ortho vet?

Do I remember rightly that Dyson has been diagnosed with mild ED, and was on rest and anti-inflammatory meds?

If so, has anything happened to make him limp? Increase in exercises? Illegal hoolies up the stairs? Even if not, when you are trying to improve, or maintain, things without surgery it's often two steps forward and one back...I hope after getting it checked out, it's not as bad news as you fear.

Best wishes, I know what it's like and it really is enough to make you cry at times, for sure. :'(

JulieT - no nothing has changed and nothing illegal that I know of ::) and yes he does have mild ED.
Unfortunately we have a 3 week wait for scan...might have pulled myself together by then !!!

Sorry to hear the limp is bad again. Three weeks will seem ages to wait for the scan, but it's worthwhile having it. Hope you're feeling better - and Dyson too.

What a bummer. Totally understand you getting to the point of bawling in the toilet! Thank god for toilet cubicles at work.

Really nothing to add beside what I wrote in the pms that we exchanged. NSAIDs at this point to reduce inflammation, physical therapy, rest and diet change + supplements.

So sorry to hear he is not doing well. :'( Please keep us posted on the results.

So sorry to read this! I know what it is like when your lab is in so much pain! Just like our 9 year old Euan with his herniated disk and still in pain. To be so helpless is horrible. So good to have that ct scan! Time will pass before you know it, I am sure!
