Well, we're away for the weekend with my girl at a basketball tournament, leaving Simba with the boys. So we'll see how it goes... A good trial run I guess but can't help but be a little worried...in the meantime I spent a small fortune at the big pet store place here in the city on chewies, toys, treats and food for when we're away :)

And it'll probably only last for half the time we're away!! :p

Yes it is helping to lessen the anxiety level. When i came home Simba was sniffing at a new Nylabone which middle son Luke (20) had bought him to keep him occupied. They had some "prowl and snatch" issues but nothing too serious. Luke had even done some of the collar desensitization with the clicker with him! So yes, very relieved. And Simba did get up on his hind legs to greet me but I can't really blame him as I had two bags full of toys, Nylabones and chewies in my hands so he was stretching up for a sniff. Not crazy jumping. When hubby came home later (hadn't seen him for 6 days) he was calm and sat nicely! Proud of my dog and my kids! ;D

That sounds good to me - hate the jumping up thing, we're not moving forward with that. I'm now working on training my cleaner, who flaps her duster round his head when he jumps up - BRILL GAME! MORE! MORE!

It's interesting with the jumping up thing. When we first got him, he jumped up a lot. I've never had this big a dog before, nor one that I haven't had from a puppy. So the only thing I could dredge up from my memory as to how to deal with it was to put a knee up to block him as he jumped. Needless to say, this did not work, but just resulted in dog getting MORE excited (what a fun twist to the game) and humans getting MORE frustrated, pushing him away harder, resulting in MORE excitement for the dog....it wasn't until I found this site and started the "turn and ignore" that we started to see a difference.

    So, here's to all of you!!! ;D ;D ;D :*
