Hi everyone, I was given this tip that Im going to follow for housetraining. If you put biological washing powder with some water in a spay bottle, and you can use this after cleaning up wees and poos, apparently it gets rid of the smell completely so even the dog cant smell it, and wont therefore keep weeing in the same place, just thought I would pass it on. Maggie
Re: House training tip I can tell you that is simply not true Maggie, sorry. Your dog has the most incredible sense of smell, a bit of biological washing powder is not going to fool her!! But it will mean YOU can't smell the wee or poo, so it's not completely a bad thing. I actually ended up rolling up our rugs and putting them away for the duration, to protect them from continued weeing (and chewing) : The only true way to stop her peeing indoors is continued vigilance, letting her out as often as possible, crating her when you can't supervise her, not getting upset about accidents, and LOTS of praise when she does it outside. I'm sure you're doing all that already - so keep up the good work, you'll reap the benefits soon, I guarantee!
Re: House training tip And you will have a beautiful smelling house Maggie! There was a program on tv not so long ago called The Secret Lives of Dogs ( I think?)loads of info about dogs and their behavior ....and it mentioned how a dog can smell a scent days, even weeks after you think you have obliterated it!amazing.Otis will be trained in no time Im sure x
Re: House training tip Ahh thanks, I got the tip from the lady who runs the dog training here in Chichester. Oh well, I will just follow your advice and carry on being vigilant putting him out often, and lots of praise. Thankyou, Maggie X
