Hi! I was a member here four years ago or more when my ex-husband and I were getting our first labrador puppy, Cyrus. Sadly for me, he got Cyrus in the divorce (even though I wanted the dog, picked out the breeder, did all the training.... I mean, I am not angry...). So now, my soon-to-be wife and I were talking about adding a lab to the family and were researching breeders when I went trolling the farm and garden section of craigslist (looking for chicken supplies was we will be adding chickens next year) and I came across a little 8 week old lab/pit mix (or as we like to call him - a pitador(abull)) who was looking for a new home because the owners had out-dogged themselves. Tucker was sold at 6 weeks of age - grrrrr - to a wonderful mom and her daughter who had never raised a puppy before. Of course he had no bite inhibition whatsoever (guess what happens when you buy a puppy at 6 weeks old), although thankfully he was crate-trained, but he was just too much dog for them. Well his sweet little face was too much for me to resist so now we have a pitador who is an adorable holy terror! And I came back here to ensure I retained my sanity. Oh yeah, and we were UNBELIEVABLY lucky with Cyrus, the other lab puppy the first time around - he virtually trained himself. I'm serious. He destroyed ONE FLIP FLOP and that was it, ever. I am certainly getting my just desserts this time around with the dog who just does not stop getting into everything!!!
Re: Hello and thank goodness for sanity saving forums! Hullo and welcome (back) to the forum from me and my two eight-and-a-half-month-old monsters, Willow and Shadow. It sounds like a lot has gone on in the past four years but that you're having a lot of fun now with your new little man. How old is he now? PS I fixed your picture so we can see him now - cutie!!
