As most of us know Charlie is a strange dog, but this is really strange even for him : Last Sunday I gave Hattie & Charlie a large bone shaped rawhide chew, Hattie ate hers but Charlie immediately buried his in the garden and has just this minute gone out dug it up and is now eating it. He never does this with any other chew or real bone (totally consumable only ) so why with this bone shaped chew and why now? He has done this a few times before but I don't get it. xx
Re: Burying a Bone!! Seems strange Helen,Dexter has never buried anything....but lets be honest my poor lad only gets frozen kongs :-[....we have a spaniel friend that buried everything!he will even bury something on a walk and then go back and find it the next week! X
Re: Burying a Bone!! I guess Charlie did not feel like it right away so put it in the 'cupboard' for later Wonder if he will do it again. Neither of my dogs have ever buried anything.
Re: Burying a Bone!! Harley does this quite a bit . I will go and dig it up that day if it's a raw bone, but leave it if it's a chew bone.....she sometimes eats part of it, then buries the rest.....she is a strange dog
Re: Burying a Bone!! Murphy my old dog did a similar thing with a rawhide bone. He'd never buried anything before then one day he decided to bury his rawhide bone. After that he did it every so often but not regularly. My cousins dog pip is funny. If he finds a toy in my aunties garden he will take it to bury presumably to keep safe from the other dogs. He keeps his eye on everyone as he trots off with it. You can see him searching for a spot. He buries it, reamerges looking furtive then if he thinks he's been seen digs it up and looks for somewhere else. If only they could talk. ;D

We haven;t had a big rawhide bone for a while but Lilly will eat 2/3 and then "bury" the rest. Shallow grave really. Has been known to "burry" things to eat later in her bed too and gets upset if you have seen her - needs to move it.
