Our next door neighbour has gone on holiday for a week and has left thier staff and boxer dog alone. They have the shed for shelter and they have left their back door open for them I am not sure if anyone is calling in to feed them etc, they went Monday and im getting a bit concerned as they have been Barking the last few hours. They never seem to care much for the dogs as they never take them for walks Any advice?

But if the dogs are healthy and have shelter, food and water then I suspect that there is not much that any authority can act on from a welfare perspective. They may drop by to check it out.. You did not mention that you could see if there is food and water though...assuming there is some in the house..? You could put a bucket of water over the fence just in case. The barking is an issue but it'd need to go on for a lot longer over a longer period before any authority would be interested, and they will expect you to talk with the owners first anyway.... While it is no way to treat a dog, I don't think there is a lot you can do. I guess let the neighbours know about the barking when they get back and maybe mention that you were worried they might run out of food and water.
Re: Neibours dogs left alone while on holiday Disgraceful behavior, such people should not be allowed to have dogs. I would call the police, dog warden, RSPCA etc anyway, to lodge a complaint. Then if the situation worsens it has been documented. In the meantime I agree, at least a bucket of water over the fence for them. They probably have some food left somewhere for them. Hopefully.
Re: Neibours dogs left alone while on holiday I have looked over the fence and cant see any food/water but as I said the backdoor is open so I hope there is food/water in the kitchen for them. I am off work today so will keep an eye out for anyone going in there to see to them and I will speak to the other neighbours to find out if they have seen anyone going in there

Re: Neibours dogs left alone while on holiday I would be calling the RSPCA. For me it's not just a case of the dogs having shelter or food and water. What if one of them is taken ill or has an accident as they are left alone.

But not sure if the RSPCA would be able to do much if there is no 'official' health/welfare issue evident (eg dogs starving, no water..). Still, it is worth having a conversation with them about it.

How do they know the dogs didn,t eat all the food in the first couple of days and are now ravenous.
