Bella has started with an occasional cough - usually when she has been asleep. The dog walker rang yesterday to say when she went to collect her she started coughing and it went on for part of the walk . I said I hadn't noticed anything and she said maybe she has a virus. This morning when i went to wake her up she again started coughing repeatedly ( dry) for a few minutes then stopped. Now she's fine. She absolutely fine within herself - playing, eating, drinking, toileting normally etc. we have recently moved house and according to google new flooring / rugs ( which she loves to lay on) could play a part?! I don't think she's swallowed anything and it's only come on the last few days - which also ties in with house move...but it does appear to have happened both times after she's been resting / sleeping although nothing last night and she was asleep on and off for ages ... Any suggestions? Thanks
She's been in Filey with my dad and Rosie the boxer last 5 days who is ok? - only started back on the dog walks yesterday - if it is that will it just go away?
I would let your Vet have a look at her , it could be any number of things, an allergy to something in your new house , but it needs to be investigated , hoping she will be ok
Hope Bella is better soon though. I had a friend who's dog started coughing just after they moved into a new house with new carpets. It was actually the new carpets which were causing the problem but after a few hoovers all was resolved - apparently the carpets held a lot of loose fibre which caused the irritation and dry cough.
Pongo had a mild case of kennel cough, and yes it went away of its own accord after a week or so. We let him have tiny little licks of runny honey off the back of a spoon to sooth his throat, that seemed to work well.
Thanks all She's not coughed Since this morning so will Keep vacuuming and keep an eye on her!!! Yes all Settled Thanks and Bella Likes her new pen
Can dogs get a post-nasal drip that can cause coughing after sleeping? Snowie was also coughing slightly and every so often a little while ago, and also sometimes giving a big sneeze after sleeping. I thought it was his allergies. Am curious if post-nasal drip is something that affects dogs like it affects people.
