Cash is 9 weeks old. I am following all the advice on crate training during the day. I reward him when he goes in and have started shutting the door for short periods. He has slept in the crate since we got him last week as long as someone has laid next to him. I don't feel this is any different then putting him in yor room the first few nights. He lasts from midnight until 6 and has never wet or soiled it. Last night we tried to let him cry it out alone. I let him whine for an hour, waited for a brief break in his screeching and let him out. I brought him right outside and he ended up going to the bathroom, 1 and 2. I feel so bad for letting him carry on so long. I put him right back in and fell asleep near the crate. At 6:15 I awoke and he was fast asleep. I closed my eyes again and he rolled over and got his let stuck between the wire gauge of the crate! He was very upset and ran out as soon as I got him unstuck. He went in and out of it several times today. He got his collar stuck on one of the door latches. Now I am afraid to leave him alone in the crate! How bad would it be if I used another crate in our bedroom for a while? That way I can continue to work with him on crate training during the day in the main part of the house. I used these crates with two other labs without incident. It's a large crate with a divider but maybe the spaces are too big? I really believe in crate training but we've had a rocky few days.

Hiya. Sounds like he is sleeping really well
I tried crate training but Harley didn't really take to it. I ended up putting her in our bedroom on her bed and she has been up with us ever since. She settled much quicker with us and would sleep 11pm-9/10am. She now sleeps on our bed, or her bed or in the ensuite.
I think it depends on whether or not you want her in the bedroom or not.
I take Harleys collar off when she's home to ensure she doesn't get caught up.
