    Hi,
I live in an apartment in a high rise building and my puppy's toilet is my balcony. So far he has learned to do poop outside in the balcony if the door is open but still does wee inside. How can i make him stop doing these mistakes? How can i make him learn that poop and wee is meant to be done outside?

Hi, you don't say how old your puppy is but the only way is to keep taking your puppy out for him to toilet during the day and again during the night and he will gradually learn the appropriate place to toilet is not indoors. It isn't a good idea to have the door open to allow him access as he then doesn't learn that he has to go out to wee and poop but just does it wherever he happens to be at the time. Also, if he has wee'd inside you need to use one of the special cleaners to get rid of any lingering aroma otherwise he will wee in the same place again as he will be able to smell the urine. The key is consistency and frequent trips out for toilet and he will get there.

    Thanks Rosemary,
He's almost 8 weeks now. Thanks for your suggestions i'll try and take him to the spot more frequently and wont keep the door open as you said will limit free access.
One more thing i have recently started dog food for him and his poop is more darker and harder since then - is this ok?

You are bound to get some indoor wees at 8 weeks. But take him out after every drink, feed, play and sleep. As he wees give a signal (we use 'hurry up' for Tatze) not before or after the wee. Always stay outside with him, don't just send him out - it won't work.

Be sure to clean up any accidents with Simple Solution or similar - other cleaners have amonia in and smell of wee to pups, however nice they smell to us!

Never tell him off, he will simply learn to wee where you can't see him.

It takes quite a while, sometimes up to four months, until they are completely reliable :)

Different foods will usually make a change in consistency and colour of the poop, nothing unusual at all.

Hi i have another question here - at night he sleeps in his crate but after few hours wakes up for toilet time then he doesn't gets back to his crate and want to stay out. If i put him back he starts crying sorts. Now when i leave him out and sleep back he either plays or sleeps and when I wake up i see his wee in the room -- how to stop this??
