The vet said that the tiny under-developed ones on the vine are worse as the toxin is concentrated. She did a bit of reading in the 10 mins it took for me to get there. Whereas. both she and I had thought the little ones might be less toxic: no.

Got to get that vine in the garden removed......luckily it's on top of a roof so no chance of Charlie getting to it, but it's covered with tiny grapes.

I've already had one chopped down last year, and this one has never had any grapes on before - but this year it has really found its feet (or roots, I suppose). Shame, because it's pretty and is nicely covering a very ugly gas pipe, but it'll have to go.....

I am pleased Chepi is OK. Hopefully, your heart rate will return to normal sometime soon.

I expect you are now thinking "did I over-react". The answer is "NO" always better safe than sorry.

Molly, very cleverly, circumvented the problem. She dug up the vine my daughter bought for,my husband's birthday, twice. Luckily bother daughter and husband seem to have forgotten its existence. I was already with an excuse, hard winter/prolonged heat spell as appropriate

I seem to remember that you're a teacher. Enjoy the hols. After the broken ankle and 'The Chepi and grape' incident, I reckon you are due

Just found one tiny grape on the floor and got rid of it. Have hacked most of the vine down and thrown away quite a good crop of tiny grapes. Chepi has been running around, sleeping and eating and is currently playing with a whimzee chew before she devours it. Hopefully ok now. The sticky charcoal is starting to come through :p.
    Thanks everyone :)

Oh dear what a scare! Glad all seems fine now - you were definitely right to go to the vet though.

Our first dog Diesel loved grapes, any fruit really and at the time we were unaware of the dangers. If we were having some grapes we always gave him a few, scary to think we could have been harming him. Since reading about the dangers I wouldn't give a dog grapes now. Glad Chepi is fine x

Just catching up, relieved for you that Chepi is OK. I used to give grapes to Hattie unaware of the potential dangers, she is fine but I guess you just never know what dog will react. xx

so glad she's ok. Apparently its 1 in 6 dogs that react to grapes its just not worth the risk i'd dig the plant out too.
