Hi All Just realised that I only tend to post when having problems, and that really overall this isnt a true representation of the joys of having a puppy - so being totally soppy, I just wanted to write a list of positive things about having Murphy (who is 13 weeks and two days) - feel free to add any positives you can think of! 1. Puppy cuddles are the best. Fact 2. His little wagging tail when he sees you, even if youve only been out of the room for a minute! 3. The calm times, when he lays at your feet on his back in absolute bliss 4. Socially - meeting people, other dogs, puppy training classes and all things dog! 5. The feeling of having a buddy. 6. Watching his hilarious antics and when he is being funny seeing my daughters face light up! 7. Knowing this is just the start and that we have years of fun ahead. 8. Finally feeling a little hole in my heart is being mended from losing my older dog 2 years ago. 9, Watching him learn new things 10. Puppy kisses. Mwah!
Nice post Bum tuck running makes me laugh every single time. Getting me out of the house and enjoying the sunshine. Willow's "smile" when she wrinkles her nose in greeting.
Great post! I feel the same, I only post when having a problem with Jura (also 13 weeks and 2 days!), so here are her positives 1. Being met in the morning by the waggliest little tail ever 2. How much she makes us smile and laugh 3. How quickly she became part of our little family 4. When she falls asleep all snuggled up to us - the no dogs on the sofa rule lasted 2 days! 5. How she loves to meet new people and their dogs 6. Watching her chase butterflies in the garden (current favourite occupation) 7. Being part of a new "dog world" 8. Being amazed this week at how fantastic she has been off lead on her first walks 9. Teaching her new things and seeing how quickly she picks them up 10. Just being Jura!
Thanks for posting these! It does make me worry a bit seeing all these problems people are having with their puppies. It's nice to know what lovely things we've got to look forward to when we pick up our girl in a couple of weeks (although I'm sure she'll have plenty of moments!). We're not even planning a no dogs on the sofa rule, we know we'd never stick to it. We are buying a throw so it's easier to clean though.
Oh BuffyDog you have an amazing experience ahead of you don't worry, I wouldn't change a thing! Well maybe a couple less of the more enthusiastic nibbles! And remember not all puppies will go through all the problems mentioned on the forum, just their own wee selection of them.

Love this thread... the look of mischief when he wants a carry on and it doesn't matter how much love you give him he gives it back in abundance!
I just love him far more than I ever thought I would. I'm the centre of his universe and the feeling is mutual. I love seeing his relationship with my daughters and husband, but he's my dog and I'm his human and I love that
I personally think that raising a puppy is like raising a baby; actually better. Puppies grow and learn at a much faster pace. You get to see them transformed from being a cute little puppy to a full grown adult dog within a short span. Lucy is not my first puppy. I've had the privilege to raise 3 puppies thus far. It just gets better and better every time. They do learn a lot from us and I believe we also learn a lot from them, especially patience and forgiveness. It is an unique experience, which cannot be explained but should be experienced by everyone.
I agree, sometimes I feel like I just post problems. So here are some things I love about my 1 year old lab Gabby. 1. I love that she still tries to get in my lap even though she is now 73 pounds and does not really fit! 2. I love the way she looks at me when I am petting her and she is sleepy, like she loves me more than anything else in the world! 3. I love how much fun she looks like she is having when she is off lead running and playing with her doggy best friend in the neighborhood. 4. I love that she tries to find the "fun" in everything she does even if I am trying to be serious. 5. I love that she wants to be with me 24 hours a day! 6. I love how respectful she is to my 14 year old cocker spaniel. 7. I love that she gets along with all the dogs she meets. Gabby is super friendly! 8. I love that she is always game for exercise cause I definitely need a motivator! I could go on and one. This is my first lab and although the puppy years can be challenging, she has grown up to be a very sweet dog. I am so glad I have her!
Hi Jane, Do you put anything inside your frozen Kongs? I heard peanut butter, but then somebody else told me it would stick to the roof of puppies mouth and drive them insane !! Daniella
Hi Phoenix, I use frozen songs and usually fill them with softened kibble and some tiny bits of chicken or fish. I then put a small slice of banana over the top to seal it. Lots of people use peanut butter and their pups love it, mine doesn't for some reason. There is a topic at the top of the forum which gives loads of good suggestions for kong fillings. It's best to start off making the kongs easy for puppy to get into so they don't lose interest to start with. I only recently started freezing Jura's kongs to make them last a bit longer, she loves them and it keeps her occupied while I pop out.
I usually use some kibble that I have soaked in water for about 5-10 mins, then I put a topping of plain live yoghurt (teaspoon) or occasionally peanut butter on the top. They are a good way of occupying your puppy without it being an overload of food but you should take it out of the daily allowance of food.
