It's quite a small spot that several times a day she sits and gives it a good wash. It seems such a ridiculous thing to take her to the vet for but I'm sure she shouldn't be fussing over it so much. I have tried to have a good look at it to see if maybe a grass seed has gone in and I think it has an even smaller dot in the centre. I have resolved to wait until Monday. Has anyone had something similar?
Hope it's not a problem, we're currently recovering from inflamed skin so keep a close eye on the spot.
I'd see the vet on Monday. Licking can lead to a raw spot and can become a massive pain to deal with. Best to try to get to the bottom of the cause and nip it in the bud
Yes, thanks, I will pop her along. It's not as if I can stop her from licking and I wouldn't know what to put on it.
Forgot the cone of shame. Useless. I should have a list of medical things to remember. Vet says it's infected, so more antibiotics and a steroid cream to stop it itching. No sign of anything being stuck in there. Have got the blow up collar ready. I'm always at the vets'. I'm worried now that maybe there's fleas in her bedding even though she has spot on treatment. So I have washed her bedding but I'm tempted to buy some more vetbed. When she had kennel cough last month (more antibiotics) she wasn't allowed her spot on treatment and I did find 2 fleas on her, so there could be some floating around in her bedding. Anyway, I know it's more money but I am pleased I took her to the vet. She was also able to become friends with the vet who made her sick last weekend after the grape incident. So that's another positive.
Poor Chepi, she does seem to be in wars at the moment but really good that she is friends with the vet that made her sick. Hopefully the antibiotics will work quickly together with the steroid cream. Washing her bedding should remove any risk of fleas bit if in doubt and for peace of mind it can be worth the expense of buying some fresh. Juno say to Chepi she must be a good girl and leave the spot alone even if does itch because it gets better sooner
Oh dear. It's better to get things treated early - that's always the best, most effective and cheapest way. Once things blow up into a big problem, you often have a difficult and expensive thing on your hands.... I'm sure Charlie thinks the vet's is his second home.
