Following removal of his drain..the wound continues to drain through the hole that is left - it's about the size of my little finger tip. So the rugs are still upside down for now. He had (most) of his stitches on Friday (10 days after the op), wound doing well - the middle of his scar not yet knitted (they left the stitch in there). Started to bleed a little from the wound itself yesterday evening. We went back to the vets this morning, and he's back on antibiotics (different ones to last time - which gave him copious smelly wind, and put him off his food) & Metacam. The vet was pleased with his progress. I would say it's draining a lot less now, so I'm happy with that, it's just the bleeding that's a bit disconcerting. It's a trade off between having a lump removed when it is small & insignificant, and you think it's not necessary, or waiting until it's grown (Scooby's was about an inch with a smaller one along side) and then recovery is longer. On the plus side, Belle is furious licking all the blood/fluid stains on the upturned rugs to make them fade - she is gross!
Poor Scooby, hope the wound heals soon but I tend to agree that lumps are better removed while small and insignificant. Juno sends healing Labrador licks, and well done Belle for trying to keep the place clean and fresh
Scooby doesn't know what all the fuss is about, he just wishes he didn't have to go to the vets, and wants to go for a proper walk - involving water. Silly sausage.
