Uploading photo into Profile

I went in to my profile, touched Avatar.......with mouse.....browsed my pictures, selected one, moved the "corner" to my puppies face, and then clicked "save"....says working" and then it says "unable" and/or "error"....I can understand "error" because the size was probably too big but what about the other? What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

Snowbunny!!!!! THANK YOU!!!......I just saw my profile and up popped his beautiful handsome face! His nose is not all black anymore and he has "matured" a bit more but still has a bit of puppy in his face! Again, THANK YOU!
