I have just braved it and taken Charlie into our very distracting tree ridden garden for on lead STOP whistle and heel work proof training and he was a complete star focusing on me 100% for his supper. Went between gravel drive and garden repeatedly zig zagging and lots of hand signals for sits and downs along the way. No dragging me head on into trees and shrubs, always a bonus ;D I am so proud. Re: I braved it!! Thank you everyone, Karen I don't think Charlie will ever be upto obedience competition level, if he just behaves that will be good enough for me ;D Helen x
Re: I braved it!! all i want helen is a well behaved dog,......not looking any time soon to winning crufts .......we need to concentrate on the recall, if we get that i will be happy,.....
Re: I braved it!! Certainly sounds to me as if you could do obedience trialling if you wanted to! It's no harder, training those sorts of exercises, than what you've already done. In fact, some of what you are doing (that you also describe in your other thread) is already a lot more advanced. It's a massive achievement to have come so far.
Re: I braved it!! Having taken Charlie ON LEAD into our garden for his training, I took OFF LEAD today and he was 100% focused on me for STOP whistle and heel work, long down/waits etc. even with Hattie joining in. Hattie is responding to the whistle too, so I now have 2 for the price of 1, can't say farer than that ;D Thanks for the vote of confidence Rachael, but I think Obedience Trialling is some way off in the distance, but you never know Helen x
