I was just wondering, when Willow is toilet trained will we still need to use special cleaner in the house, or will she know not to wee inside where we have just cleaned with normal cleaning solution? Also when she is 15 weeks we have booked to go camping (with her) in the same county in our caravan. I just wanted to check it's not a silly thing to do at that age? Will it confuse her or will it be good for her? Thank you!
Easy answer to first question is once Willow is toilet trained you shouldn't need to use a special cleaner in the house as she will have learnt that outside is for toileting, not indoors . I would just use up and special cleaner I had and then revert to my normal brands. Can't help you on question 2 as I haven't been camping or caravanning with a puppy. I would have that the experience would be good for her as long as you maintain your normal rules and training. I'm sure others who have camped will be able to give more advice
I agree with MaccieD about toliet training. While Willow is young and receptive a camping trip could be a really good socialising opportunity, especially if you plan to do a lot of camping with her later on. Just make sure that she doesn't overexert herself in all the excitement!.
LucyinCornwall one thing I just thought of, Phil's answer jogged some brain cells , you may want to lift Willow in and out of the caravan instead of using the steps to protect her from bounding up and down
I still use the special cleaner (Simple Solution in my case). Not in the house, but diluted to swill her wees and keep the spending area fresh In the house I use normal cleaner once they are toilet trained.
Thanks so much for the replies! Yes I had heard camping would be a great thing for socialisation too! It's on a farm which is brilliant too! Yes maintain rules with training and keep those things consistent will definitely help! And definitely agree with lifting her up and down to and from the caravan! Thank you
A 15 week old pup would LOVE camping. Just don't let her do too much and maybe have a travel crate to make sure you get a break....
Go for it! you are her family now, as long as she is with you, she will be happy! In terms of the cleaning products, just make sure they are ok for dogs..I used to work in a vets and we always used Zoflora to clean the floors - pet friendly and smells wonderful!
Regarding cleaning fluids I use Sanidog it's especially formulated for pets and children. I love the smell, it's not highly perfumed just smells like fresh air. Definitely take Willow on holiday, Mabel was 20 weeks when we hired a cottage in Cornwall earlier in the year. Just got back from her second holiday today (she's now 8 months) on the whole she was a joy. OH laughs at the amount of stuff she needs, I always take her crate, plus all her blankets etc. not all her toys though she has more than the local pet shop We've booked to take her away in October too, now looking at taking her to France at some point.
