Well me met Coco. He is a beautiful boy. Only 1 year old & rather boisterous, he hasn't had much training. Not history of poor treatment or neglect - a victim of a broken relationship. He seems to walk well on a Halti, but he's obviously not keen. He had been re-homed last Friday, and brought back on the Sunday when they decided "he pulled too much outside" and he broke 2 Haltis. He needs time investing in training, I can't believe the people who took him didn't realise that ?!? After the initial meet, we went home to get the shy & retiring Belle. He is rather over eager with her, but then it's to be expected - all these new people/dogs. She did snap at him a few times to show him the boundaries. He relaxed more towards the end of the meet, which was a very positive sign. Until he can be better, I don't think they will be happy to let him come home with us. Two more meets planned this weekend. My heart is torn at the moment. OH is head-over-heels in love, but then it's not him who will have to do most of the walking and training! Oh, it's heartbreaking isn't it? Poor boy - but don't let your heart rule toooooo much, it has to be the right match for both of you.
It sounds like you are giving it time to decide whether he is right to you. You don't want to end up making the wrong decision - either for yourselves or Coco. There will always be another dog around the corner if you decide he's not the right fit for your family. Wishing you luck.
How can it be wrong to give another dog the chance of a happy life. There is another dog out there for you. You might find it next week, next, month or next year. All that matters is than it is the right one for you and your family.
I think you are doing the right thing by having a few more visits. It will give all of you, and him time to get to know each other. Good luck whatever you decide x
If you decide it's a no that is 100% ok. Coco will easily find a family and it doesn't matter if it's not yours.
Wow he's a looker isn't he? What a gorgeous mix has come out in his coloring and markings,love his tail.My tummy turns thinking of him getting taken back after 2 days .I can totally imagine how you can get carried away when you meet a dog like Coco so you are doing right by taking time to consider if he's right for you...if he's not then he will be right for somebody else. I'm shocked at him breaking 2 haltis????Dexter could pull like a train at one point and I briefly used a head collar that was similar to a halti.....I can't imagine how hard you've got to pull to break one!!!he must have helped them along with a sneaky chew?especially if he's not keen on them ! X
