    Morning all,

I'm after some advice on whether to phone my vet about Jura (again!), who is now 17 weeks tomorrow.

Thursday she came running towards me very proudly carrying what looked like the top of a cigarette packet cellophane wrapper, I grabbed a treat and it was gone. Can't be 100% sure she swallowed it but high possibility that she did. Phoned the vets for advice just to check that I was ok to monitor her for signs of obstruction or if I should take her in, they said monitor her as it should pass through her ok. Fine.

Sunday morning 6am she is lying beside me and quite calmly gets up and walks to the patio doors and is sick. Nothing suspect in her sick just kibble from her last meal (6pm previous evening) and a few bits of grass.

This is the only time she has been sick, she is pooing normally after every meal (half size meals yesterday), and drinking water normally. Whats concerning me is that she seems a bit sleepier than normal. She will happily play if you engage her, running around fetching her ball and yesterday as my husband was filling a wheelbarrow with weeds she was taking them out the other side and running of with them, but otherwise seems to want to sleep more than usual.

Should I phone the vets again this morning??? Or give it a bit longer? She has happily eaten her breakfast, had a drink and been outside for pee and poo this morning, now curled up for usual post breakfast snooze.

    Thanks

Sounds like it could be still in there, these things can take a while to come up/out. Keep watching her very carefully for signs of obstruction (watery poos, lethargy, pain) and phone your vet if you are at all unsure.

I have been through this many times with Tatze

You could do a phone consultation with the vet. Let us know how she does.

If in doubt , call your Vet . I try not to panic when one of my two eats some forbidden item, but would rather err to caution, just for peace of mind , hope she is alright .

If it was me, I'd call the vet. It's almost certainly nothing to worry about, but it's their job to make sure. I tell myself they would always rather see a healthy pet for no reason, than not see one potentially in trouble :)

Thanks for the advice, I gave them another phone and they advised to continue monitoring her as she is eating, drinking and toileting fine, and phone again if she seems worse. She just seems to be lacking her usual puppy exuberance which is concerning me. It's a lovely sunny day here and normally she would be whining to get out into the garden all the time but she's just lying by the patio doors, though she has just tried a sneaky nibble of the skirting board!

Ahhhh if only she could talk!

If she is toileting normally and drinking there's probably not too much wrong. If she's quieter it could be that she's teething and her gums are a bit sore. Having a puppy is a bit like having a baby - always something for us to worry over

Is it a bit warmer than normal? That could account for her being a bit less active.

A dog with an obstruction is in serious pain - you would see a clear difference and she definitely wouldn't be eating or playing. It is always best to call the vet if in any doubt though, so you did the right thing to check :)

It has been warmer here today and Harley has slept more than usual. She does this whenever it is a bit too warm for her.
    Hope all is ok

It was warmer here yesterday so yes that could have been affecting her, and she is certainly teething.

She did perk up in the afternoon and was a lot more lively and playful, and the vets phoned back in the afternoon to check how she was and they seem happy which has reassured me. She certainly gobbled down her breakfast this morning and bounced round the garden quite happily - but then we're back to typical Scottish weather 12 degrees and poring rain :)

Thanks for the advice all, much appreciated
