What do you do with your poo bag?

Yep, I am starting a topic about poo!

As a first time dog owner everything is new to me so I just thought I'd see what others do. I've got one of those little poo bag dispensers that clips to Ella's lead but when she does a poo if find myself stuck holding the full bag. Obviously if there is a bin I use it but I have found that isn't that common.

Am I missing something here or does everyone else have days where they end up carrying a full bag for three quarters of their walk/training?

    Thanks ☺

Yep, I too have the occasional walk where I end up carrying a full bag if there is no bin, thankfully it is rare as Jura normally goes immediately after every meal but there has been the odd time.

I have a dickie bag, which I sometimes use in London (although there are plenty of bins, and so it's not really necessary).

Out in the country, I'll often hide my poo bag if I'm going to come back the same way (absolutely hidden out of sight, and definitely not displayed on a tree branch!) and pick it up on the way back. I have never, ever, forgotten to collect it.

Otherwise, I'll double bag it, and put it in my bag or pocket. I use extra, extra strong poo bags!

I've got a treat pouch which has an extra pocket on the outside - I use that for bagged poo.

It's always a happy day when the dog poops near a bin! :)

I have seen at some country shows and at crafts last year pouches specifically for used poo bags, that you can clip to something and you zip it up. If mine are off lead and their lead is clipped round my neck I tend to double bag and then clip to the lead so it is like a lovely pendant lol.

I wear two treat bags around my waist (two dogs = lots of treats!) and normally pop it in one of those. The first poo bags I ever bought were awful and you could smell the contents through them, even if double-bagged. I didn't want to carry that with me, so if they did one at the beginning of a walk then, I'd hide it well and come back for it at the end of the walk or, if not a circular walk, I'd do the same walk in the opposite direction the following day to pick it up. They generally "go" about ten minutes into a walk, which is just far enough that there are no bins around.
If we're on a real hike, we always have a rucksack with us and I have a designated pocket in there, well away from the sandwiches ;)

I leave it out and pick it up on my way back if there's no bin near. If there's nothing distinctive around I have to admit I do sometimes leave it on view as I'd rather find it than not!!

I hang it on a branch and wait for someone else to deal with it.

Very funny!!! I had no poo bag the other day so looked around for a discarded (unused) one and found one, then walked the 100 yards back for the poo. Brownie points? (Pardon the pun)

I picked up someone else's the other day. I had seen Willow squat there behind some long grass, so went over and there was the lump. I thought it looked strange (is it odd that I can identify my dogs' own deposits?!) but figured she must have found something interesting to eat. As it turned out, it was cold, so definitely not hers. It's weird that it suddenly made me want to gag. It appears I've turned into one of those mothers who can cope with their own child's bodily excrements, but no-one else's.

I carry it around until I find a bin. It keeps your hands warm in the winter if you put it in your pocket

Bag it and bin it, even if I have to walk along swing nonchalantly as I skip along.

Thanks but I might give the pendant a miss ☺☺

Thanks for the ideas! I spent a fortune on my bags and they're guaranteed leak proof but they definitely let the stink out so I'll try double bagging and will get a different brand next time.

Might have to invest in a poo pac too..

I have very little sense of smell and can pick up any poo without the Gag thing happening. The worse thing I've ever done is put the poo in my coat pocket (in a bag) forgot about it hung my coat to a hot radiator and just got on with my day. I couldn't smell it but my husband who has the nose of a labrador (not literally he has a normal man nose) nearly died. So funny I am a terrible person. I find cold ones hard to pick up though, and yes the hot ones are very welcome on a cold winters day
