Eric woke us at 5am Monday making a horrendous noise. I thought he'd been sick but he hadn't.
He carried on making noise so took him to vet. He has kennel cough :(
He's generally OK, still eating, drinking, toileting and being a puppy monster but when he has his coughing fits it awful.
We have to keep him isolated this week while he's on medication. He has missed his first puppy training class and is a nightmare during 'witching hour' as I'm sure he just wants to get our for a walk. the garden loses its appeal by then.

His bark and cry sounds better today, not as hoarse but his cough sounds wetter.

Apart from his medication does anyone have any home remedy tips for his cough and (presumably) sore throat x

Poor boy! It's really unpleasant, isn't it. When Obi had it he coughed so much he couldn't even keep food down.

The irritation is mainly in the airways, so giving things to eat or drink won't reach the real hot spots, but a bit of honey might stil be soothing for the upper part of his throat. The vet gave us anti-inflammatories to try to reduce the irritation so you could talk to the vet about that, if you haven't already got some.

I hope the cough goes away fast and that he's feeling much better soon.

    Thank you both
I will take a look now at that site

it's awful not being able to do anything. this time of night is the worst. He doesn't know what to do with himself.
He wants us - He doesn't want us
He wants to sit on us - He wants to bite us
He wants his crate - He wants the sofa
    Poor boy :(

I'll also give the honey a go.
he's not off his food in any way so I'm sure he'd love a lick of something sweet :)

Well he loved the honey :)
He does sound a bit better today. He only woke once through the night and then slept again till 6.30am.
still sounds chesty if he runs too much but has hardly coughed today :D
his mood is also improving. He's been very grumpy and snappy on an evening but tonight, although still unable to settle, he's come for cuddles
    fingers crossed xx

Poor Eric, hope he's feeling better soon. It's horrible when our pets get poorly. I'm glad to read Eric had a better day.
