I know Juno is a lovely, gentle easy going girl but sometimes she surprises even me. Today we were due to have a shampoo for her skin infection, so rather than try the bucket in the kitchen method again I thought I would try Juno in the bath, not something I had tried by myself before :(. So with some trepidation I prepared the bathroom and made sure the water was running warm ready for her. That I thought would be the easy part.

Step 1 - entice Juno upstairs (she is reluctant to come upstairs as she knows it's not allowed ) with a treat in front of her nose
Step 2 - lift her into the bath while talking quietly to her
Step 3 - allow her to stand in bath while I turn on the water and the temperature

Great response from Juno - no panic or self-calming

Step 4 - Rinse and shampoo and rinse and shampoo. Next question how do I keep Juno quiet while standing in the bath waiting for the necessary 5 minutes before rinsing again - Juno's favourite Herta Knacki (Chicken flavour), while practicing some "Leave" and "Take". Followed by a final rinse.
Step 5 - lift wet dog out of the bath and onto her towel for a rub dry and get her to walk slowly back down the stairs.

Following a nice, although shorter than normal, walk along the voie verte she's now enjoying a nice tasty lunch time bone

    Waiting nicely by the door

    Worth the wait..........

Great, well done both of you. I don't have a bath so tried the shower, wet dog and dog hairs everywhere, so no dogs of mine are bathed or showered anymore! Heaven knows what would happen if they had a skin infection. Juno deserved her treat, she was a very good and calm girl :D

Wow,that's a masterclass in how to bath your dog ,very well done....I've only ever done it once....the day he arrived as he'd been in his shipping crate for 10 hours he was a bit whiffy!
I think he was so bewildered about the turn his life had taken he just stood still for us ....I'm not that keen to try again to see how he would be now

The secret is the Herta Knacki chipolatas :D:D . It was actually easier to bathe her by myself (and the trusty Hertas) than when my OH helped me last time :cool:;);)
