Should I be worried? It was one of those foil type pouches. I use them for high value rewards. Usually I can extract it from him but today I failed and he swallowed it all!

He crunched it up quite small but still. Should I do anything????

I do the same, using fishy cat food as a 1 in 50 jackpot recall treat. I've never handed it over in the tray though, I scoop it out onto my fingers and have to put up with stinky fingers until we get back home!

So he ate the foil tray with it? Yikes.

Do you think it was crunched small enough to pass through, physically? If you think there's no way that can "fit" the exit, it's probably going to stay where it is leading to problems.

I'd be very worried indeed if any signs develop such as :
    irritability, can't settle
    distressed, panting, drooling, uncomfortable
blood in stool, straining to go, constipation
    not eating or drinking normally

If it does eventually get to the "exit" but gets half lodge, whatever you do DO NOT TRY AND PULL IT OUT. This could cause internal trauma and that is absolutely a job for a vet.

To be honest I think I would get on the phone to an emergency vet, get their take on it. If they say they need to see him, they need to see him. Or they may offer you a wait and see policy and give you proper professional advice on what to watch out for.

It wasn't the foil tray ones it was a pouch. So much more soft and bendy and he did chew it quite small. I've just given him his lunch and he's had a big drink. I'll watch him for a while and then take him on a lead walk and see if he goes. I have a number for an emergency vet so will call in a bit of i notice anything unusual. Thanks :)

    Bloody dog lol

Ah ok, sorry. I could only picture the foil tray types which are pretty thick and sturdy. What's the pouch like is it tin-foil ish?

You'd be amazed what can pass through a dog. One of mine ate the big flat round squeaker out of a cuddly toy. Swallowed whole, came out the other end two weeks later and looked like it would still squeak if I'd cared to try it. At least Bob chewed the pouch up. Keep an eye on Bob for any of the symptoms johnG has mentioned or anything else out of the ordinary and watch for it coming out the other end.
