She will probably not feel like jumping around for a few days or more; it's a significant operation and she feel some pain afterwards. I just followed the vet's directions about very short walks on lead and Chepi didn't need much as it really made her tired. In fact it took about 8 weeks before she returned to full vim and vigor.
I am sure all bitches are different so I think you just need to keep an eye on her and do what the vet says.
Chepi didn't drink for about 24 hours or more. Good luck, I hope she does feel bouncy soon after.

Belle (mongrel collie x) had a complicated spay at around 18 months, she was back to full vigour 24 hours later when the anaesthetic wore off, she was on lead walks for a week which frustrated her. Good luck with her recovery.

Useless to say don't worry because of course you will ;) but I'm sure she'll be fine.
Molly was a bit whiney for a couple of hours when she first came home but then settled down and was fine. I was told by the vet it should be lead walks only for 2 weeks which was a nuisance but I took her places we wouldn't meet other dogs.
I imagine Roxie is light enough for you to lift into the car after her op - that was the most difficult thing for me as Molly is too heavy for me to lift and they're not supposed to jump. (I took a big old duvet and made a kind of step - tiny car and not high to get onto back seat).
    Hope it all goes smoothly.

Phoebe got spayed at 6 months and after a quiet first night she acted like nothing had happened! Keeping her calm and not jumping around was a real challenge. I brought her some new toys (dog puzzles) which were supposed to mentally challenge her, however at one point the day after her spay she was charging around with one in her mouth so I'm not sure it worked how I envisaged! Our vet said to only walk her on the lead for 5-10 min at a time but that we could do this numerous times a day (after a couple of days "rest"). I was really worried the whole time about her wound and whether she would do any damage by not resting, but it was all good and healed amazingly. Hope it all goes well. Try not to worry.

Juno was spayed 5.5 months and she was pretty much her normal self the next day. On vet's advice we were on sorter walks (around 15 minutes), no off lead walks, running, jumping or playing with other dogs for 2 weeks until her stitches were removed.

I wouldn't worry about it until you see what she's like. Many bitches are back to full energy levels shortly after, it's true, but plenty do take their time to recover - my Willow included. She wasn't going to jump anywhere after her surgery, she was very sore and miserable for a long time. I sent her brother to live with a friend for a fortnight while she was recovering, so there was no chance of any rough play - I know you've said she has doggy friends locally, so I would advise she is kept away from them for a couple of weeks, until her stitches are well healed.

My Bella was done at 5.5 months, and she laid low for a few days - she would look pathetically at us to help her get on and off the couch and our bed for a few days, but otherwise was pretty much fine by the end of the next week. I think they are pretty good about self limiting....we just reinforced no play time with our other dog, and only supervised time in our yard. It was all over and a thing of the past byt the time we went back in for her suture removal at 10 days post op. Just keep your eyes trained and senses about how she is doing - you know her best.

Don't worry, it will truly be ok :) It's a totally routine operation. Don't believe any scary stories you read about guts coming out...it just won't happen. As I understand it there is a layer of muscle in between the skin and the organs and this is stitched closed as well. The stitching you see on the outside is just the final layer of stitching.

She will be fine :) You'll be amazed at how quickly she will get over it.

It will be fine. If your dog is the kind of dog that jumps around all the time (mine is) then just keep her on a lead. Keep her on a lead in the house too if you have to do so. It's a bit of a pain, but it'll soon be over. She won't come to any harm being on a lead in the house and garden (yard) for a week or so.

She will be fine - you won't! Plan something to do which will keep you really busy and your mind occupied. It's really hard taking them in to the vets and leaving them.
