Lochan tells off a Westie

    I think Harley would of reacted the same as Lochan. Harley is confident and is ok with dogs coming to say hi and have a quick sniff. She will give signals when they've overstepped the mark and will end up telling them off if they persist. I don't think Lochan did anything wrong at all and you did ask the owner to collect his dog several times.
    As for stopping the 'over sniffing' - in an adolescent class I did, we practised letting the dogs say hi and have a quick sniff, then walk away in a chirpy voice saying 'come on then'. This was really good and helped the dogs learn the cue to leave from their owner, rather than wait until the bitch tells them off. It isn't fair to let the bitch be harassed to the stage where she has to react in some way.
