Has anyone heard of this? It's a blend of seaweed and completely free from artificial additives and preservatives, it's is supposed to reduce tartar and plaque on dogs teeth, it receives excellent reviews and is recommended by some Vets. Just wondered if anyone uses it? Thanks xx

I looked at the website, I don't see any links to any studies or evidence for efficacy. I personally put customer reviews and marketing material pretty much at the bottom of the evidence pile....and also if a company relies heavily on a claim of "being natural" I'm always a bit suspicious (uranium is a 100% natural product.....).

It's not on the list of products approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council
    http://www.vohc.org/accepted_products.htm

There are some internet articles which describe the active ingredient as Ascophyllum nodosum and reference some research that apparently shows a result in humans in reducing plaque. I cannot find the actual studies but that doesn't mean they don't exist, I just might not be able to find them.

We don't use it but my vet said that this kind of thing can be helpful. But nothing is a substitute for brushing which is the only thing that will reach plaque under the gumline.

I used this for about 6mths on my Pointer a few years ago, it made no difference to his teeth what so ever. I'm not saying that it doesn't work for some, just that it didn't work for my dog. I've had more success with Arm & Hammer's dental water additive and brushing.

    Absolutely.

Thanks for the information Julie, very helpful :)

Would anyone give it a go? I will ask my vet her opinion on this product next time I visit.

I have a friend at work that uses it for her lab and really likes it, said it made a difference. It was a vet that recommended it to her.
