Hi there, Saba is our 11 week-old chocolate boy, who came home with us a week ago. He was really settled on the two-hour car journey, and has quickly made himself at home. We have four grandchildren aged 6 and under who are desperate to be friends with Saba, although he is still wary of the older two, and tends to bark when they arrive. Saba and I toddle out for a daily walk so he can experience all the sights and sounds of the big wide world, and he's pretty good on a lead. Sadly, all the local parks have 'Lead Only' Bylaws, so he's not yet tested off the lead. We hope Saba will be my personal therapy dog, as I suffer badly with depression. He's certainly given me a new focus and purpose, so here's to many more happy years learning together!
Hello, and a very warm welcome to you and Saba. I hope you can find an off-leash area to exercise and train in. Jacqui and Lilly, (from Fife in Scotland)
Hi, and welcome from Holly and me in Monmouth, Wales. It sounds like you're doing a great job of socialising Saba. The more he experiences now, the more relaxed he will be later on. When you have a moment I'd love to see a picture of Saba. Just for interest, how did you choose his name?
I am fortunate in having had two wonderful holidays in Sabah, Borneo, and as the names our grandchildren came up with were 'Intelligent', 'Fluffy', 'Spotty' (he's chocolate!?), and the usual range of characters from 'Frozen', he became Saba. I dropped the 'h' as I thought it a little bit girlie Today, he is called 'NO Saba' or 'Ouch Saba'..!
Hi and welcome to the forum from me, Willow (black girl) and Shadow (yellow boy). Shadow is very pale yellow, so everyone is always getting confused and calling Willow, Shadow. I like to be a bit different. You should definitely have gone with Spotty.
That's a lovely story for the name. In time it will evolve into "down Saba" as he goes through the jumpy stage.
Hi and welcome from 2 year old fox red girl, Harley and me . Harley has been great for my physical health (spinal Injuries) by getting me out walking every day as well as having her snuggle up when I'm having a bad day. The biting stage does go quickly, even though it doesn't seem it at the time. Would love to see photos when you get chance
Hello there and welcome to the Forum....great to 'see' you here.Saba is a lovely name ,sounds like you are having a great time getting to know each other.Plenty to read and chat about on here and the main Labrador Site .Pop on by with Saba news and antics when you aren't surviving your crocopup! Best wishes Angela x
Hi from me and my 6 month old choccy girl Ella ☺. She's progressed passed "ouch Ella" and "down Ella" and is currently known as "leave it Ella"! Looking forward to hear more about Saba's development ☺
Hello and welcome from Poppy and me! A word of advice - get in the car and drive Saba (great name!) to somewhere you can let him off leash. You need to make use of his innate need to be near you while he is still very, very young in order to start training his recall. Right now he will automatically want to stay near you. In a couple of months recall training will be much more difficult.
We had an off-lead adventure this morning, and Saba was as good as gold. He still had a mad half-hour when we got home, and has finally trashed the cardboard box he selected as his bed. Secretly, he's a boxer dog! We had a second walk this afternoon in the pouring rain, and he's now sleeping peacefully through the fireworks and bangs. I'm so looking forward to when he stops nipping, jumping up when we're sitting down, and running off with my shoes/jumpers/clean laundry!
Hi and welcome to the forum from Fred and me. Glad you both enjoyed your off lead adventure. Have you any photos of Saba which we could see?
