Does anyone know how soon after the end of her season it is safe to let your dog go into water? I know it's not recommended during a bitch's season, due to the risk of bacteria passing through the open cervix and causing a uterine infection, but cannot seem to find information about how long it is best to wait before letting her swim again.

My vet advised me to keep Harley out of water for a further week after her season finished to be on the safe side. I kept her out for 2 weeks, but as you know, she developed pyometra a month after her season finished.

Oh that's right, how awful Ternaya, thank goodness she is ok now :(

Did the vet think it might have had anything to do with the swimming, do you know?
