Our lovely 9 yr old black lab, Pippa was diagnosed with Alabama Rot about a month ago. She also tested positive for Lymes Disease. Sadly she was unable to fight both diseases and within 3 days her kidneys gave up. We had to have her put to sleep. Devastated was an understatement. We walked her in the New Forest in Hampshire near Cadnam. She was the most wonderful, well behaved dog anyone could have wished for. So this post is just to say it's still out there, dogs are sadly still dying from this awful disease. Pippa had 2 ticks in the space of a month hence why we asked the vet who was adamant that it wouldn't be Lymes to test her for it as she had all the symptoms. Results came back positive, 2 wks too late to treat. Although ultimately it was the Alabama rot that killed her. If your dog is lathargic, off its food, depressed, sick and if it's had a tick and you've been walking in areas such as new forest please tell the vet. If your dog has a tick and has those symptoms please insist they test for Lymes too. On the positive side we now have an 8wk old black Lab called Wellington. Our house was too empty without the patter of little feet!
Hello there and welcome. So sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your lovely girl, that is really awful. Thank you for the continued warning for other dog owners. Welcome to little Wellington, who will help you learn to smile again.
Firstly Hi and welcome to the forum from me and Juno, my chocolate girl. You must have been devastated at the loss of Pippa and the combination of Alabama Rot and Lymes Disease which affected her. Your post is a timely warning for all of us to be on our guard against these awful diseases. It's good to hear that little Wellington is helping to bring a smile to your face again. Tell us more about Wellington, and we love puppy photos. There is information on posting photos on the Technical and Help section of the Forum.
So sorry to hear your news about your loss. These are such terrible diseases. You are so considerate letting people know they need to be aware of these things. I hope little Wellington brings you many years of joy. We'd love to see a picture if you can.

So very sorry but thanks for giving us all a warning to be watchful. So glad you got a new lab he sounds lovely.
Thank you for your kind thoughts. Pippa is missed and will be for a long time no doubt but we planted a cherry tree and sprinkled her ashes into the soil so she'll be remembered every time we look out the window Wellington is settling in very well and making himself at home. We have 2 girls who love him to bits already! I will try and load a photo if I can..
