Hello, we have a 9 wk old black lab Wellington, who remarkably has managed to become house trained already! Is this normal for labs??! He sits by the door when he wants to go for a wee/poo and will even take himself to the end of the garden to his toilet area without messing on the grass. Am quite amazed how quickly he has learnt! He has even managed a few full nights in his cage without messing or whining to go out. Am half expecting him to regress soon! Do I dare remove the protective floor coverings yet?! Lol
I wouldn't remove the protective floor coverings just yet to be on the safe side, but just as with human babies, puppies learn at different rates. Some like Wellington are house trained early, others can be 13, 14 or 15 weeks before they manage it. The best part is when they go through the night
This is brilliant Wellington! I meet new little puppies every week and, like MaccieD says, they are all different. I know just one (called Picasso!) who has been dry and clean from 9 weeks. Most take much longer. My three - Tatze - 14 weeks Gypsy - 12 weeks Twiglet - 16 weeks
